Josh Brolin Fears Upsetting Tommy Lee Jones With Men In Black Impersonation

Actor Josh Brolin was hesitant to sign up to portray a young Tommy Lee Jones in the new Men In Black sequel because he's known for his "really bad" impersonations of the veteran star.

In Men in Black III, Will Smith's Agent J travels back in time to 1969 to meet his sidekick, Jones' character Agent K, as a younger man, played by Brolin.

But the 44 year old admits he had his reservations about the role when he was approached by director Barry Sonnenfeld to show off his impersonation on screen - and he still has no idea if his No Country for Old Men co-star approves of his performance.

He tells WENN, "I have fun with doing Nick Nolte or Tommy Lee Jones (impersonations), but really bad versions of them.

"Then Barry called me asking if I wanted to do this mega movie and play a young Tommy Lee Jones, or play a young Agent K for a billion people to judge. It's like putting your a** on the line especially with someone you know and I still don't know if Tommy liked it or not."

And Brolin reveals he faced a hard task perfecting Jones' vocal tones: "I think the tough thing about Tommy's voice is he's all over the place; it's like he's improvising his voice and it's still cultivating into something. It's like an instrument that's been played by nobody, where somebody asks you to not only learn how to play it but make an album in two months that everybody will hear." »

Ryan O'Neal's Son Defends Father's Parenting Skills

Ryan O'Neal's son Patrick has jumped to his father's defence after the actor condemned his own parenting skills, insisting he's "proud" to call the Love Story star his dad.

The screen veteran has received much public backlash for his hands-off relationship with his kids as three of his four children - Tatum, Redmond and Griffin - have struggled with drug and legal issues over the last several years.

O'Neal recently opened up about his guilt and failure as a dad during an interview with U.S. breakfast show Today earlier this month, but his sports broadcaster son Patrick O'Neal disagrees - and has come forward in a bid to help repair his dad's public persona.

During an appearance on U.S. news show Access Hollywood on Wednesday, the 44 year old said, "I'm real proud of my family... I'm real proud to say that Ryan O'Neal is my father and I'm real proud of my childhood and growing up how I grew up. The perception of my father as a bad parent (is something)... I have to argue...

"I have never stepped forward (to talk about this), I am a pretty busy guy... (but) I'm not on the payroll of my father so I'm here on my own volition to support my father and tell him that I love him." »

A source said, "(He) asked her to marry him. She thought he was kidding because there was no engagement ring - but he told her one would be coming soon, and they kissed passionately for about a minute. Everyone applauded!"

But a spokesperson for the Tron: Legacy hunk has dismissed the rumours, telling WENN, "(The report is) so not true."

Munn has largely kept her troubled childhood a secret since finding fame, but she's now opened up about the emotional pain she endured as she was growing up in a candid new interview with Ocean Drive magazine.

She tells the publication, "He would always say, 'You're not smart enough (to become an actress), pretty enough, you have no talent,' and it would knock me down."

But the 31 year old admits his behaviour did have one positive outcome - it helped her discover her comedic chops.

She adds, "When (my stepfather) would be screaming his head off in the living room, I would hustle everybody into my room and launch into imitations of teachers or do scenes from movies. And that would take their minds off of the hell that was happening down the hall."

Her mother subsequently divorced her second husband when Munn was a teen. »

Matthew Weiner Battled To Get Beatles Into Mad Men

Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner spent years battling The Beatles to get the band's music into the hit TV show.

The group's song Tomorrow Never Knows was played during an episode of the current fifth season of the popular drama, which aired in the U.S. on Sunday, and TV bosses are rumoured to have paid a massive $250,000 (£156,250) for the privilege of including the track.

Creator Weiner has now revealed he spent "a few years" negotiating with bosses at the Beatles' Apple Corps label in a bid to buy the right to use the song in the show, and he even had to break his own secrecy rules by sharing confidential plot twists.

He tells, "It was always my feeling that the show lacked a certain authenticity because we never could have an actual master recording of the Beatles performing... Not just someone singing their song or a version of their song, but them, doing a song in the show. It always felt to me like a flaw. Because they are the band, probably, of the 20th century...

"Whatever people think, this is not about money. It never is.They are concerned about their legacy and their artistic impact... You cannot buy your way into these things... I had to do a couple things that I don't like doing, which is share my story line and share my pages. It was hard."

Weiner also admits that if Apple Corps chiefs had rejected his application once again, he would have rewritten the whole plotline to get them to change their minds.

He adds, "I would have changed the story." »

Spider-man Stars Face Off For Magazine Interview

Spider-man star Tobey Maguire has interviewed his replacement Andrew Garfield for a new magazine piece.

Maguire played the web-slinging superhero in three movies but eventually walked away from the franchise to be replaced by British actor Garfield, who takes on the title role in new blockbuster The Amazing Spider-Man.

During the chat for VMan magazine, the former Spider-Man reveals he followed developments closely as movie bosses searched for a new star to play the beloved superhero and his alter-ego Peter Parker, and he was delighted when they chose Garfield.

Maguire tells Garfield, "When (the new film) was coming together, I was particularly excited at two moments: one was when (director) Marc Webb got involved. I think he's an interesting and cool choice. And then I was certainly curious as to who was going to play Peter Parker. When I heard it was you, I was literally like, f**king perfect!... I just want it to be great, and I thought, What a great actor Andrew is, I'm glad that's what's happening here."

Maguire goes on to ask Garfield about the audition process, and the Never Let Me Go star reveals he had dinner with friend and rival Jamie Bell the night they both auditioned for the role.

He says, "I actually had dinner with Jamie the night of my screen test and his screen test. We compared notes and war stories, and we kind of got past the ridiculousness of it all and thought it would be a nice idea to get everyone together and kind of interview each other about how messed up the process is, being against each other, and remember that we're all in it together, knowing that when you take off that bodysuit someone else is going to be stepping into your sweat immediately after. It's a weird kind of cattle call."

Maguire also warns Garfield to expect an overnight boost in his celebrity status as soon as the movie hits cinemas: "All of a sudden, the Sunday after it was released, I remember I went to lunch with my little brothers and there were all these people outside and photographers... But for you, you seem to be more prepared for it than I was. Hopefully it won't be as violent for you from one day to the next." »

"I had a good relationship with the horse, whose name is Scout, and when I look at the tape I can see that Scout saved my life.

"I went down badly and I was dragged for 25 yards and in the end the horse jumped over me and just clipped me with his back legs." »

The Choice, hosted by Cat Deeley, debuts in the U.S. on 7 June. »

Busy Philipps Fuming Over Cougar Town Treatment

Actress Busy Philipps has taken aim at ABC executives for their handling of Cougar Town, insisting the show is the "ugly stepsister of the network".

The 2009 debut of Courteney Cox's comedy landed more than 11 million viewers, but over the three seasons ratings have dropped and the current series has so far failed to top five million.

The programme's time slot was also changed, and recent reports suggested producers have been talking to bosses at TBS about a two-season pickup if ABC drops the show - and Phillips admits she's hoping the gossip is true.

She tells E! Online, "It has not been fun to feel like the ugly stepsister of the network. They moved us around, they took us off the air for months.

"I do feel a little disappointed in how they've treated the show. If TBS is willing to launch the show in a real great way and we would actually have like billboards and commercials, that would be really cool.

"I feel like if it really happens it's kind of going to be like best case scenario for all of us." »

J.K. Rowling Honoured With Freedom Of London

Harry Potter creator J.K. Rowling has been awarded the Freedom of the City of London in recognition of her writing achievements.

The author was given the honour at a ceremony in the U.K. capital on Tuesday to recognise her services to children's literature.

Rowling was handed a framed parchment certificate of her accolade, and she declared, "I am prouder than I can say to be given the freedom of the City."

The freedom traditionally permits the recipient to be drunk and disorderly on the streets of the city without fearing arrest, and to drive sheep over London Bridge - but these privileges are mainly symbolic in modern times. »

Evan Rachel Wood's Tears Over Controversial North Carolina Bill

Bisexual actress Evan Rachel Wood burst into tears after hearing a same-sex marriage ban was passed in her native North Carolina on Tuesday, but insists: "I will never give up my right to love."

Voters turned out across the state on Tuesday morning and The Ides of March star rallied support for the gay community by urging her fans to shut down Amendment One, which declares marriage between a man and a woman the only valid domestic legal union.

But Wood, who grew up in Raleigh, was left devastated when it was announced the bill had been passed.

In a series of posts on her Twitter page on Tuesday night, she writes, "Just bent over on set and cried over this outcome. I hope my children see a more peaceful and tolerant world. I hope we will be heard.

"If you choose to stay in the dark ages you will never grow, never fully love, and never live your life to its full potential. I will never give up my right to love. Not for any religion. Not for any god. To give that up means giving away our soul. And your soul was a gift from god. Peace out."

Wood wasn't the only star outraged by the ruling - Mia Farrow declared: "Shame on North Carolina... the disappointment we feel now is nothing compared to the bewilderment & shame your children will feel", while gay country star Chely Wright simply stated, "Heartbreaking and painful."

Scissor Sisters star Jake Shears was more outspoken, raging: "Sorry Mom - but f**k you, North Carolina. You're on the wrong side of history. Absolute fools."

Roseanne Barr ‏urged, "Hollywood withdraw your productions from Nc!" and actor Jason Alexander told his fans, "I assure you, the next generations will not agree with this decision. It's a throwback, in my opinion."

Sandra Bernhard ‏tweeted, "North Carolina Passes Gay Marriage Ban. time will not stand still, now you're just going to have to catch up. so sad for you", and comedian Patton Oswalt took to his Twitter page to declare, "Always had great shows in Nc. Lots of nice people there. This time, the ignorant & fearful yelled louder. It'll change." »

Johnny Depp's Fake Vampire Nails Caused Toilet Difficulty

Johnny Depp had to rely on a team of assistants to help him during bathroom breaks while shooting new vampire film Dark Shadows - because his pointy movie nails made it difficult for him to urinate.

The Pirates of the Caribbean actor stars in director Tim Burton's big screen adaptation of the supernatural TV series as Barnabus Collins, the cult character made famous in the 1960s by the late Jonathan Frid.

Depp was fitted with long, sharp fingernails as part of his costume, but the talons proved to be a real pain when he needed to go to the toilet.

During an appearance on America's The Ellen DeGeneres Show, which aired on Tuesday, he said, "Well it took some time (to get used to), certainly. They stayed on the whole day.

"There were a team of er... people who would assist me (in the bathroom)." »

Alan Cumming Injured In Theatre Rehearsals

Alan Cumming's first day of stage rehearsals for his one-man version of William Shakespeare's MacBeth got off to a shaky start - the actor cut himself on a prop.

The X2 star is preparing for the show's debut at The National Theatre of Scotland next month and he began work on the project on Tuesday.

But clumsy Cumming was left nursing an odd injury just hours into his first day.

In a post on his page, he writes, "First Macbeth injury! Cut my finger on a toy robot I was using to represent Lady Macbeth in a little theatre game. Blood will have blood." »

Sacha Baron Cohen Interviewed As Himself By Howard Stern

Character actor Sacha Baron Cohen has conducted a rare interview as himself with U.S. radio DJ Howard Stern.

The funnyman is known for his outrageous onscreen personas and regularly sits for interviews as one of his many alter egos, including Ali G, Borat, Bruno and his latest creation Admiral General Aladeen, from his upcoming movie The Dictator.

But he ditched the bushy beard and military uniform he has donned for recent promotional appearances and appeared as himself, wearing jeans, a T-shirt, a leather jacket and a baseball cap to meet up with SiriusXM shock jock Stern on Tuesday.

Speaking in his native British accent, he told the host, "I've never really done any interviews as myself. This is like the third time in my life I've done an interview out of character."

Cohen explained that he only agreed to break his routine for Stern because he's a "huge fan": "I've been following your career for 20 years. What you were doing inspired me very early on because I thought, 'Alright, this is a guy who's got balls.' The fact that you didn't mind breaking the law or upsetting people - I followed that role."

And the actor admitted he had fun being interviewed out of character.

At the end of the chat, he added, "I enjoyed it. I never do it. Maybe that'll be it. It will be an exclusive with The Howard Stern Show." »

Judge Signs Off On Linda Evangelista's Child Support Settlement With Ex

A New York judge has given his seal of approval to a child support settlement between supermodel Linda Evangelista and Francois-henri Pinault, ending their nasty court battle.

A trial between the former runway beauty and her French billionaire ex began in Manhattan Family Court last week (ends04May12), after Evangelista demanded a massive $46,000 (£28,750)-a-month to support her five-year-old son Augustin James, who was conceived while Pinault was briefly separated from his now-wife, actress Salma Hayek.

During the explosive proceedings, the court heard how Pinault had allegedly told the model to have an abortion, while the fashion mogul opened up about the difficulties Hayek had experienced while she was pregnant with their daughter Valentina, who they feared would be born with Down syndrome. The girl, now four, was born healthy.

But the pair decided to put an end to the revealing hearings on Monday when it was announced the exes had managed to reach a financial agreement.

The settlement plan was signed off by a judge on Tuesday, although the details of the deal have been sealed.

In a joint statement, Evangelista and Pinault say: "We are happy that we were able to reach an agreement for the benefit and well-being of our son, Augie." »

John Travolta's Attorney Fires Back At Second 'Absurd' Lawsuit

John Travolta's attorney has slammed a second male masseuse who's filed a new sexual harassment lawsuit against the actor, dismissing the latest allegations as "absurd and fictional".

Reports emerged on Monday, suggesting the Grease star, who is married to actress Kelly Preston, had been slapped with legal action by a plaintiff identified only as John Doe.

In the suit, filed last Friday, the alleged victim claimed Travolta had touched his genitals and sexually propositioned him after hiring the man for a massage.

The actor's lawyer Marty Singer blasted the claim as a "baseless lie" and insisted the lawsuit was "complete fiction and fabrication".

However, a second masseuse - who has also chosen to remain anonymous - came forward on Tuesday and filed a second claim against Travolta, accusing the star of inappropriately touching the new plaintiff and masturbating during an appointment on 28 January at a spa resort in Atlanta, Georgia.

But Singer has shot down the new legal action and has blasted the lawyer representing both accusers of using media reports to make the second lawsuit more believable.

A statement issued by legal powerhouse Singer to reads: "This second 'anonymous' claim is just as absurd and ridiculous as the first one.

"The attorney who filed the lawsuit on behalf of his second anonymous client... was notified that his first client's claims were totally false and fabricated, since our client was not in La when anonymous 'Doe #1' claims he interacted with John Travolta.

"That fact is easily provable since John Travolta was on the east coast working on a movie on the date that anonymous 'Doe #1' claims he interacted with our client. After we were able to establish that anonymous 'Doe #1's' claims were totally absurd, the same attorney has now filed a claim on behalf of another plaintiff, whom he identified as 'Doe #2'...

"Before the attorney for the two anonymous plaintiffs filed the claim on behalf of the second person... he checked media reports that my client was in Atlanta working on a movie. However, the claim by Doe #2 is just as fabricated as the claim by Doe #1. Our client will be fully vindicated in court on both of these absurd and fictional claims." »
