Chris EvansEvans Feared A Captain America Flop

Chris Evans feared for his career if last year's superhero blockbuster Captain America flopped because he had already made "quite a few stinkers".

The Hollywood hunk has reprised his role as Captain America for upcoming superhero movie The Avengers, following the financial success of his debut outing as the shield-wielding adventurer.

However, he is still coming to terms with starring in such a big box office hit following a series of under performing films.

He tells Hong Kong's Prestige magazine, "I'm surprised by any movie that is successful. At this point I've made a lot of films. I've made about 20 movies and I'm probably proud of three. I had already made quite a few stinkers. I couldn't afford to make another one, let alone another one on that scale. If you make one that big and it fails, your days are numbered.

"(But) not only was I extremely happy with how the film turned out, but it was such a fantastic working experience. Everything about it has been a positive. There has not been one negative."

Evan's past roles include The Losers, science fiction drama Sunshine and thriller Cellular. »

Trump's Miss Universe Pageants Now Open To Transgender Women

Officials at businessman and TV star Donald Trump's Miss Universe Organization have agreed to allow transgender women to enter their beauty pageant following a dispute in Canada.

Jenna Talackova was disqualified from competing for the title of Miss Universe Canada last month and she is currently battling with Trump and his company over the decision.

Gay rights activists waded into the controversy and, after two weeks of talks with the heads of the Miss Universe Organization, the rules are about to be changed - transgender women will now be allowed to compete.

A spokesperson for the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation says, "For more than two weeks, the Miss Universe Organization and Mr. Trump made it clear to GLAAD that they were open to making a policy change to include women who are transgender.

"We appreciate that he and his team responded swiftly and appropriately. The Miss Universe Organization today follows institutions that have taken a stand against discrimination of transgender women... Jenna and all of the Lgbt (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) advocates who have called for this change and spoken out in support of transgender women are to be commended."

Miss Universe president Paula Shugart tells The Hollywood Reporter, "We want to give credit where credit is due, and the decision to include transgender women in our beauty competitions is a result of our ongoing discussions with GLAAD... We have a long history of supporting equality for all women, and this was something we took very seriously." »

Stewart Hates Theatre Fight Scenes

Sir Patrick Stewart is terrified of acting out fight scenes on stage as he has been injured when co-stars have "lost control" during a performance.

The Star Trek actor, 71, has carved out a successful career in the theatre alongside his film and TV work, and he has revealed he feels much safer when filming violent scenes for the screen than on the stage.

Stewart also admits he has suffered numerous injuries in the theatre when choreographed sequences go wrong.

He tells Britain's Radio Times, "I hate fight scenes - they frighten me more than anything. I have been unlucky enough to work with one or two crazy actors in my time and I have often been hurt when they lose control.

"I would be happy never to do another stage fight again in my life. On TV and film everything feels very safe and properly done whereas on stage you find yourself alone on stage with a battleaxe wielding actor when the red mist descends over his eyes and there is nothing you can do." »

Cruz has one other release scheduled for this year, the drama Venuto al mondo, and she admits making two films annually is more than enough to satisfy her acting appetite, because her perfect day involves "running around with my family at the beach".

She tells Harper's Bazaar magazine, "Maybe I'll make one movie a year, maybe two, but it's not going to be more than that because I have other priorities now."

Cruz and Bardem split their time between her native Madrid, Spain and their adopted home of Los Angeles for work, but the actress is adamant her baby boy won't be spending much time in California if she can help it.

She says, "When I come here (to Los Angeles) now, I have so many memories. Some of them good, some of them not so good. I have lived beautiful moments here, but I don't want to live here. It is not the place where I want to raise my kids." »

Baldwin's Fiancee Not Fazed By Alleged Stalker

Alec Baldwin's yoga instructor fiancee Hilaria Thomas is refusing to stop publicising the details of her teaching schedule following a scare with an alleged stalker, insisting she will not let "crazy people dictate" her life.

Genevieve Sabourin, 40, was arrested on Sunday after reportedly turning up outside the 30 Rock star's New York home and she was booked on five misdemeanour counts of harassment and stalking.

During her arraignment hearing on Monday, the Canadian was ordered by a judge to stay away from Baldwin and Thomas and released on her own recognisance.

But Thomas, who teaches a fitness class in Manhattan, is not fazed by Sabourin's actions and is not worried about having her class timetable posted online for all to see.

Responding to one user who suggested listing her schedule "may not be wise", Thomas wrote, "Life stops when u let crazy people dictate ur activities (sic). My @YogaVidaNYC sched is always posted on".

Meanwhile, Baldwin has used his Twitter blog to speak out about Sabourin's arrest.

In a series of posts on Tuesday, he writes, "Isn't it odd when an accused stalker is in handcuffs, being taken away by the cops, yet smiles for the cameras?

"I am lucky and grateful in my life now, no matter what the motivations of certain others". »

Garfield Bought A Boot-legged Spider-man Copy

New Spider-man Andrew Garfield could find himself in trouble with his bosses after admitting he once bought a boot-leg copy of the superhero's first big screen outing.

The British actor is such a huge fan of the comic book superhero that he couldn't wait to see 2002's Spider-Man, and decided to buy an illegal version rather than wait for the cinema release.

He tells SFX magazine, "I actually saw that first movie before it came out. I got a pirate (boot-leg) copy of it on Portobello Road (London) market because I was so excited to see it. I was blown away by it, and watched it with my friend Terry. We were quoting it to each other. I was pretending to be Toby and Terry said that I would never be able to be Spider-Man!"

Toby Maguire played the character in three Spider-Man films before Sony decided to reboot the franchise with Garfield in the lead role.

Sony Pictures executives have been vocal in the past about how piracy is affecting the movie industry. »

Van Der Beek Cringes When He Hears Dawson Theme

James Van Der Beek flees in embarrassment every time he hears Dawson's Creek's memorable theme tune played in public.

The popular TV drama finished in 2003 after six successful seasons but the show's popularity still lives on through the theme song I Don't Want to Wait by Paula Cole.

However, the series' star isn't a fan of the track and is left red-faced whenever he hears it.

Van Der Beek says, "For some reason - and again, I need to get over this; I'm (a) 35-year-old, grown-a** man - but I want to hide somewhere. If I'm in public and the song comes on, my first instinct is to find somewhere to hide - go in a corner, duck behind a rack, run into a dressing room, find the nearest restroom, like, just get out of there.

"It's a Pavlovian response, and I think it's time for me to get over it. But for some reason, it just triggers inside of me. It's a great song, but it's nowhere near my iPod." »

However, he is keen to reprise his iconic role as The Terminator after expressing disappointment with the last installment.

When asked which franchise he would like to return to, he tells, "(I'm open to) all those things, if it's True Lies, Terminator, a well-made Terminator... the last one was awful. It tried hard, not that they didn't try, the acting and everything. It missed the boat."

Silverstone Defends Baby Feeding Technique

Alicia Silverstone has defended her controversial practice of feeding her son by passing chewed food directly from her mouth to his.

The actress sparked a parenting debate last month after publishing video footage of herself demonstrating the bizarre technique with her son Bear Blu, with some critics claiming the practice is unhygienic.

The Clueless star admits she never expected the clip to cause a media storm and insists the tactic has been used by mums for "thousands of years" to help toddlers adjust to solid foods.

She says, "People have been feeding their kids that way for thousands for years. It's a weaning process... I think it's adorable and it makes me laugh every time he does it.

"He attacks my mouth and I think it's adorable. He also knows how to use his hands and he also eats regular food so when babies are weaning, he still breastfeeds. Some people think that's disgusting too which is insane. It's just a thing that has been going on for thousands of years."

Despite the backlash, Silverstone has no regrets about sharing the video with online fans, adding, "Every time my husband goes to the Ymca some guy comes over and says, 'That's how we do it in the south!' Between him getting those great comments and me knowing in my gut it's natural and lovely, I really wasn't trying to tell anybody what to do. I wasn't saying this was anything somebody should do. I wasn't trying to be independent or cause such a ruckus. I'm very glad that I did it."

Bear Blu, 10 months, is Silverstone's child with her husband Christopher Jarecki. »

PETA Hits Back At Lawrence Over Squirrel Scene

Jennifer Lawrence has incurred the wrath of animal rights activists at PETA for making light of a squirrel skinning scene in her Oscar-nominated movie Winter's Bone.

The Hunger Games star is seen ripping the fur from the animal in the critically-acclaimed 2010 movie and she discusses the bloody scene in a new interview with Rolling Stone.

However, the 21-year-old actress couldn't help but made a jibe about People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), telling the magazine, "I should say it wasn't real, for PETA. But s**ew PETA."

A representative for the animal rights organisation has now hit back at Lawrence and urged her to be more compassionate.

The spokesperson tells WENN, "She’s young and the plight of animals somehow hasn’t yet touched her heart. As (American author/poet) Henry David Thoreau said, 'The squirrel you kill in jest, dies in earnest.'

"The squirrel was 's**ewed,' not PETA... We hope Jennifer will learn from other young celebrities like Justin Bieber, Lea Michelle and Kellan Lutz, who are using their influence to help, rather than hurt, animals." »

The actress reprises her role as the Black Widow in the highly-anticipated blockbuster, which sees comic book characters including Iron Man, Thor and Captain America team up.

However, the star admits she and her co-stars were squirming uncomfortably during breaks because their restrictive superhero outfits left them sweating.

She tells, "It's like 800 degrees in my costume... and it's a unitard, and I have nothing underneath it!

"I'd say everybody has their own uncomfortable costume situation. We all have our various things that we have to do to get comfortable.

Fox: 'My Opinions Get Me Into Trouble'

Hollywood beauty Megan Fox has vowed to tone down her outspoken views in the future after admitting her past comments have "got me into trouble".

The Transformers actress famously likened the film's director Michael Bay to Adolf Hitler in 2009 after working with him on the first two blockbuster movies, and was subsequently replaced by Rosie Huntington-Whiteley in the series' third installment last year.

Fox admits she regrets some of her more controversial comments and is now learning not to be so vocal during interviews.

She tells Britain's The Sun, "I've paid the price for being very open about my feelings... I'm a passionate individual and sometimes when I have strong feelings about a subject I feel the need to express myself.

"But I've learned that it's better to hold back a bit, that the world doesn't necessary need or want to know what I think about some matters. I still believe in being very honest and speaking my mind. I think that's a good quality even if sometimes it has gotten me into trouble." »

Newton's Lawyer Tells Court Of Suicide Fears

Matthew Newton's lawyer has told a court in Sydney he fears his client is "suicidal" following his arrest in Florida on Friday.

The Australian actor, who is currently staying in the U.S., is facing legal woes Down Under after he was accused of assaulting a taxi driver in December and was recently ordered to return to his native country to take part in the court proceedings.

However, his troubles escalated last week (ends08Apr12) when he was detained by police in Miami on suspicion of obstruction and trespass. He was subsequently released on $200,000 (£125,000) bail.

Newton's attorney, Chris Murphy, appeared at Downing Centre Local Court in Sydney on Tuesday as part of the ongoing assault case and addressed the incident in the U.S.

He insisted Newton, who has battled mental health problems in the past, had not consumed any alcohol before his arrest and is due to see a therapist to address his fragile emotional state.

He told the magistrate, "My client is hunted like a wounded animal... No one's suggesting any aggression on his part... My extreme concern... is that he is suicidal. He is seeing a psychiatrist today. This is an unfortunate thing that has happened in America."

Magistrate Jane Mottley reiterated that Newton will have to return to Sydney to face the charges against him, but she adjourned the case for three months to allow time for the American legal proceedings to be completed. »

In a post on his blog on Monday, he writes, "So last night just after I had finished with the blog, I rose from my desk to get to bed, but excruciating pain stopped me in my tracks and I found it difficult to walk to stand to sit to lie down. Quite horrendous!

"This was not there post-operation even... so what really is the reason for it two months down the line? I have no answer. But tomorrow there should be one as I prepare for a Ct Scan... The scan can pick up any region that could be infected or being the cause for the pain.

"A pain killer has done the job for the day, but because they need to be taken with some restriction, I try to bear up with the discomfort for as long as I can... I must reassure you that matters are still under control..." »

They alleged Sabourin had since bombarded the actor with messages, but her lawyer insisted the relationship was "mutual" and there were "phone calls and texts going both ways," according to the New York Daily News.

The former Beverly Hills, 90210 star wed Iswarienko in October and their nuptials and life as newlyweds has been documented for her reality show The Shannen Doherty Project.

The 40 year old insists she would love to one day have children but admits she treasures romantic moments with her husband too much to become a mum just yet.

She tells, "We both want kids. First and foremost for both of us is spending time with each other. We're newlyweds and we really want to enjoy (this) time.

"I'm fortunate enough to be with a man who is like a poet. He'll go surfing super early in the morning when I'm still asleep and I wake up to this beautiful note that he's left behind to let me know how much he loves me and how much he's going to miss me for the three hours he's gone. I don't know if I want to share that yet. And he doesn't want to share me quite yet.

"We both want children, but more importantly, we want each other and we want to be with each other. Whatever else happens is fate and a blessing, but right now I think we're both so happy being married and together, and that's our focus."

And Doherty, who has been married twice before, reveals she's not opposed to adoption if she struggles to conceive naturally: "If it's meant to be it's meant to be. If I'm meant to be a mum the traditional route then I'll be a mum the traditional route. If not, then there are plenty of children in this world and in this country that need a loving home and stable parents. I have no issues with adoption. It will happen however it's meant to happen for us." »

Hanks To Play Disney In Mary Poppins-related Film

Tom Hanks is slated to play beloved moviemaker Walt Disney is a new film about the making of Mary Poppins.

Author P.L. Travers rebuffed the mogul's efforts to convince her a big screen version of her books would be a good idea.

Rumours suggest it took Disney two decades to be given the green light and he had to surrender script approval rights to the stubborn author.

When filming got underway in the early 1960s, Disney and Travers clashed over song choices, animated sequences and storyline changes.

The difficult working relationship between filmmaker and writer was chronicled in Valerie Lawson's biography Mary Poppins She Wrote, which inspired two documentaries on Travers.

Fox Credits The Dictator With Reigniting Her Love Of Acting

Megan Fox fell back in love with acting thanks to her cameo appearance in The Dictator, because it gave her the chance to break away from her "sexy, icy image".

The Transformers beauty has made a name for herself playing sultry sirens or mean girls in films such as Jennifer's Body and How to Lose Friends & Alienate People.

She is set to appear in Sacha Baron Cohen's new movie playing a tyrant's prostitute, and she relished the chance to show off her comedic talents and change film fans' opinions of her.

She tells Britain's The Sun, "When I first started acting I was always playing the b**chy or mean girl, then I was playing these cool, robotic women.

"I was growing tired of playing those kinds of characters and reinforcing this stereotype of me and having to play up to that when I was doing interviews.

"Now I feel I can be myself again. It's given me the chance to get away from that sexy, icy image that I've been stuck with. I think the public can relate to me more easily in these kinds of movies."

She reveals working on The Dictator has also made her eager to sign up for more funny films.

Fox adds, "I'm discovering that I enjoy the atmosphere of being part of those kinds of films. Doing comedies has been a great change of pace for me and I'm interested to see how audiences react to seeing me in these kinds of films.

"I'm really enjoying my work again and I feel a lot of good things are happening to me." »

The former Little House on The Prairie star took to the dancefloor for a routine with professional partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy, but viewers noticed she was missing when all the competitors appeared together at the end of the episode.

The show's host Tom Bergeron told the audience that Gilbert had to leave the studio to see a doctor after hurting herself during the routine.

He said, "She injured herself and as a precaution she's gone to the hospital to get checked out."

In a post on her page, she writes, "I'm alright. Mild concussion and whiplash. Very soon I will be safely home resting and being taken care of." »

Heigl Heartbroken By Adopted Daughter's Initial Rejection

Actress Katherine Heigl was heartbroken when her adopted daughter forged an instant connection with husband Josh Kelley - because she was initially rejected by the young tot.

The former Grey's Anatomy star adopted baby Naleigh from Korea in 2009 when she was 10 months old, but Heigl confesses the mother-daughter bond was surprisingly slow to form.

During an interview with German publication Bild am Sonntag, she said, "People are always talking about the strong bond between mother and daughter, this magical connection - but we didn't have that. (It was) the hardest time in my life... I fought incredibly hard for my daughter to accept me as (her) mother. Her rejection almost broke my heart."

And the actress reveals the experience was made even more painful by the fact that the young child immediately took to singer Kelley.

She continued, "At first I blamed myself and thought I was a bad mother. It took a while before I could admit to myself that the lack of trust had nothing to do with me."

Little Naleigh is now four. »

Galliano Finally Replaced After Disgracing Dior

Disgraced designer John Galliano has finally been replaced as creative director of French fashion house Christian Dior over a year after he hurled racist and anti-Semitic abuse at shocked customers during a drunken rant in a Paris bar.

The fallen fashion king was arrested in February, 2011, and he subsequently lost his job.

Cops then charged him with casting "public insults based on origin, religious affiliation, race or ethnicity".

He escaped jail but was handed a fine in September.

And now Belgian Raf Simons has been drafted in to take over from Galliano at Dior.

He says, "It is with the utmost respect for its tremendous history, its unparalleled knowledge and craftsmanship that I am joining the magnificent house of Dior." »

Tequila: 'I Thought I Was Dying After Suffering A Brain Aneurysm'

Reality TV star and internet pin-up Tila Tequila has opened up about the medical emergency that put her in rehab earlier this year, revealing she thought she was dying after suffering a brain aneurysm.

The 30 year old accidentally overdosed and suffered the aneurysm last month and immediately checked into a treatment centre in Florida.

She tells Us Weekly magazine, "I can remember feeling like the bones were popping out the side of my head, the pain was so bad. I took some medications and tried to go for a nap, but when I woke up I was vomiting."

Tequila's roommate found the star almost unconsciousness and dialled emergency services.

After the scare and the rehab, Tequila insists she feels like a new woman: "I feel like I have been reborn. I should have died and feel blessed to have another chance at life and I intend to grasp it. I got excellent treatment and I did a total detox of all substances and medications. This was really tough but I managed to do it."

She now hopes to help other celebrities who find themselves in similar situations.

Tequila adds, "I love talking to people and hopefully I can help them if they have problems. This whole experience has made me think about going back to school and taking psychiatry classes as I feel like I could really help people who have issues." »

Judd Fires Back At Puffy Face Jibes

Actress Ashley Judd has taken aim at the media for jumping to conclusions and suggesting she had undergone cosmetic surgery after the star's face appeared 'puffy' on a TV show.

The Frida star has written a piece for online newspaper The Daily Beast, re-iterating that her appearance was the result of steroid medication for a cold and reprimanding careless journalists and bloggers who were quick to report she had gone under the knife.

Calling the stories an "assault" on female body image, Judd writes, "The hypersexualization of girls and women and subsequent degradation of our sexuality... is what this conversation allegedly about my face is really about."

And she admits she was upset to learn that many of those who stated she had "clearly had work done" were women.

The actress adds, "That women are joining in the ongoing disassembling of my appearance is salient.

"This abnormal obsession with women's faces and bodies has become so normal that we (I include myself at times — I absolutely fall for it still) have internalized patriarchy almost seamlessly. We are unable at times to identify ourselves as our own denigrating abusers, or as abusing other girls and women."

She concludes her article by writing, "I hope the sharing of my thoughts can generate a new conversation: Why was a puffy face cause for such a conversation in the first place?. If this conversation about me is going to be had, I will do my part to insist that it is a feminist one, because it has been misogynistic from the start." »

Stallone Sues Contractor Recommended By Reality TV Star

Sylvester Stallone has filed suit against a contractor he alleges cheated him out of over $1 million (£625,000) in a home repair deal.

The movie legend claims he was victimised by Mohamed Hadid after reality TV star Lisa Vanderpump recommended him to the actor/director.

Calling Hadid an "unscrupulous, unlicensed predator" in legal papers, obtained by, Stallone's lawyer Marty Singer claims his client hired Hadid to work on his Los Angeles mansion in 2009, but he was left with "inexpensive, damaged deteriorating and uneven cabinetry and malfunctioning appliances" among other things.

Stallone alleges the contractor also installed an inoperable and unsafe fire pit and an incomplete and unsafe air conditioning unit, stating, "Far from the top quality job promised, Hadid's work was riddled with defects, abysmal quality and poor workmanship."

The movie star wants his money back, plus damages. »

Bynes' Dad: 'My Daughter Wasn't Drunk Behind The Wheel'

Amanda Bynes' father has jumped to his daughter's defence following her DUI arrest last week (ends06Apr12), insisting the Hairspray star is "a good girl" who doesn't drink.

The actress, 26, was booked on Friday morning after allegedly colliding with a police car in Los Angeles - but her dad Rick Bynes insists the only thing she's guilty of was being "upset and very emotional".

Firing back at reports suggesting his daughter had been drinking, Bynes tells, "She was not drunk. I was told that she blew a zero on the Breathalyzer. She didn't have a single drink that night. My daughter doesn't drink."

And dad blames the cop for the accident, claiming he pulled out in front of his daughter "as she was turning at the West Hollywood intersection, where she was cited." »
