Alley Attempts To Clear Up Scientology Links To Weight Loss Line
3 hours ago
Actress Kirstie Alley has blasted reports suggesting her new diet programme is a Church of Scientology initiative, insisting only 10 per cent of the project's bosses are Scientologists.
Alley, who is a Scientologist, had to defend her Organic Liason line during an interview on national TV in America on Tuesday - and now she's speaking out to clear up rumours the weight loss programme is a front for the Church.
The former Cheers star, who constantly struggles with her weight, has admitted The Today Show line of questioning took her by surprise and now adds, "That I would need to clarify or defend the intentions or affiliations of my LLC business corporation in the year 2010 is indicative of the intolerances that we as a country still need to overcome.
"However, after The Today Show brought fringe bigotry and intolerance into the forefront of national media, I feel compelled to clarify two issues.
"There was a claim made that my product is a front for Scientology. This is not true. Organic Liason is its own LLC and is not affiliated with the Church of Scientology or the World Institute of Scientology. The proof is in the numbers.
"The web team has six people; none are Scientologists. The advisory board has five people, one of whom is a Scientologist. The marketing team has six people; none are Scientologists. The Operations Director is not a Scientologist. One of the three people in the accounting team is a Scientologist, the other two are not. The legal team has four people, none of whom are Scientologists. Out of the 25 employees of Organic Liason, four are Scientologists." »

Will & Grace star Sean Hayes was driven to finally open up about his homosexuality earlier this month after his longterm boyfriend suffered a cancer scare, according to reports.
The actor has long refused to comment publicly about his sexual orientation, despite playing flamboyant gay character Jack McFarlane on the hit U.S. sitcom.
But he confirmed one of the worst kept secrets in showbusiness in an interview in the March edition of The Advocate magazine, in which he revealed he was gay.
He said, "I am who I am. I was never in (the closet), as they say. Never. I believe that nobody owes anything to anybody... I spend time with a special someone in my life. That's it. Sandra Bullock's Oscar celebrations have come to a crashing halt thanks to new U.S. tabloid allegations suggesting her husband Jesse James has been cheating on her.
Tattoo model Michelle 'Bombshell' McGee claims she enjoyed an 11-month affair with the TV mechanic while Bullock was on location shooting The Blind Side - the film that earned her an Academy Award at the beginning of the month.
McGee tells In Touch magazine that James told her that he and the actress had split, stating, "I would never have hooked up with him if I thought he was a married man. He gave me the impression they were separated."
The model tells the publication her relationship with the Monster Garage star was intimate and highly charged, and she reveals she called James by a pet name, Vanilla Gorilla - because he was so "well-endowed".
She claims she first met James when she approached him about a possible modelling job, and they started exchanging information via email.
Then he invited her to meet him at his Orange County headquarters, gave her a tour of his monster garage, and then invited her back into his office.
McGee recalls, "He wanted to watch movies, but I asked him, 'What’s going on with you and Sandra?' He said, 'She doesn’t live here. She has a house in Austin. She is filming, and I can’t talk about it.'"
From that, McGee assumed the two had split and she embarked on a romance with the reality TV star.

A spokeswoman for an agency handling publicity for the movie tells WENN the decision to cancel was made after Bullock informed organisers she was no longer available to travel across the Atlantic for the event.

Winslet & Mendes Marriage 'Rocked By Hall Friendship'
Kate Winslet and Sam Mendes' marriage was rocked by arguments about the director's friendship with British actress Rebecca Hall, according to U.K. reports.
The Titanic star and her American Beauty director husband announced their split on Monday, bringing their seven year marriage to an end.
According to recent reports, the pair struggled to work together while filming Revolutionary Road and drifted apart after the movie wrapped.
And new claims in several British newspapers suggest Winslet was furious about the amount of time Mendes spent with Frost/Nixon star Hall after he cast her in two of his plays.
A source tells U.K. newspaper the Daily Mirror, “Sam is a huge admirer of Rebecca’s work. He can be quite a lovey at times and really worked well with her, which would obviously wind Kate up. There’s no suggestion of anything untoward but undoubtedly the friendship didn’t help mend the struggling marriage. They are most definitely just friends. To suggest anything else is wide of the mark."
And the publication adds that Winslet's decision to stay in America to star in a U.S. TV drama instead of returning to her native U.K. with him for his filming commitments caused a deeper rift between the couple.
The insider says, "Sam raised several questions over whether she should be doing it, insisting she was above a TV script, and it wouldn't progress her career. Not surprisingly, Kate went ballistic." »

"There was a great role and they said, 'Well, we're not sure you're right'. And I said, 'I'll audition...' I went and did a great audition and still got rejected. And there I was... going, 'What am I doing? This is horrible.' But you do it because you love it (acting)."
However, Margulies wasn't fazed by the knock-back for too long - her role in hit U.S. show The Good Wife won her a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Television Series Drama earlier this year. »
Batt Salutes Harris For 'Coming Out'
16 March 2010 6:26 PM, PDT
Former Mad Men star Bryan Batt has praised fellow gay actor Neil Patrick Harris for 'coming out' - because the masses rarely accept homosexuals in Hollywood.
The 46 year old has been openly gay throughout his career, and has been dating partner Tom Cianfichi for two decades.
But Batt is adamant that being openly gay is a tough choice for stars - and he urges more homosexual celebrities to follow former child star Harris' lead and be honest.
He tells The Huffington Post, "God love Neil Patrick Harris. How good is that? People grew up with him, they go, 'Oh it's him, it's that little boy, and he just happens to be gay. How great for him!' The more of those kind of examples that happen, the better it's going to be.
"If you are openly gay, the masses can be asses and sometimes can't get past the fact that that's how someone lives their private life.
"Some actors have to make a choice. If they have the opportunity to become these huge megastars, making millions and millions of dollars and have to live a lie, that's a choice they have to make." »
Bridges: 'I Was A Hollywood Drug Dealer'
16 March 2010 6:26 PM, PDT
Former child star Todd Bridges was so desperate to make cash when hit TV show Diff'rent Strokes ended, he became a sleazy Hollywood drug dealer.
The actor was 22, out of work and in debt to tune of $300,000 (£187,500) and so he opted for desperate measures to pay off what he owed and get rich quick.
Promoting his new book, Killing Willis, Bridges tells U.S. news show Access Hollywood, "I worked four different hotels and I had five girls that worked on the streets."
But he couldn't stop using what he sold - and quickly became a drug addict.
He admits that was the lowest point of his life: "I hated myself. I hated the way I looked in the mirror. I believed everything people said about me." »
Labeouf Still Fuming Over 2008 Car Crash
16 March 2010 6:26 PM, PDT
Shia Labeouf is still fuming at the driver who caused the actor's car crash in 2008, leaving him with an injured hand and without a license for 12 months.
The Transformers star was arrested in July 2008 on misdemeanour DUI charges in Los Angeles after he collided with a fellow motorist.
The smash left him with a severely damaged hand and his passenger, actress Isabel Lucas, with minor injuries.
However, police decided not to press charges against LeBeouf after ruling he was not at fault in the accident, but the star was still suspended from driving until two months ago.
And the 23 year old can't shake his anger over the whole affair.
He tells GQ magazine, "I'm so angry. Because this accident was not caused by me. I got hit. I had a green (light). This (guy) ran a red light. And he flipped my truck, and he shoveled it on my hand."
And Labeouf confirms he lost his fingers in the car accident: "This is fake, dude. This is hip bone and the skin that was left over." »
Hewitt: 'Kennedy Split Was Amicable'
16 March 2010 6:26 PM, PDT
Jennifer Love Hewitt has assured fans she's "totally fine" following her split from ex-boyfriend and Ghost Whisperer co-star Jamie Kennedy, insisting it was a "mutual" decision to part ways.
The actors began dating early last year following the break down of Hewitt's engagement to Ross McCall.
Hewitt and Kennedy confirmed they were going their separate ways last week (begs08Mar10) but the actress insists they are still close.
She tells People.com, "(It was) a mutual decision and we've parted as friends. There's no anger, there's no upset, there's no enemies."
Hewitt credits their friendship prior to their romance for helping to make the transition from lovers back to pals an easy one.
She adds, "It's been totally fine. It's really a testament to who he is and to who I am. We're both grown-ups."
But the 31 year old admits she's not thrilled about returning to life as a single gal: "I don't like to go out to clubs and party. I'm not into 'Let's go out with one guy on a Monday and another guy on a Wednesday' - that's just not me. I'm a relationship kind of girl. I like a twosome. Some people get excited about being single. I don't." »
