Bay's Angry Transformers Email Leaked
21 June 2009 6:40 PM, PDT

Clues about moviemaker Michael Bay's decision to leave the Transformers world behind have been revealed in a leaked email to Paramount studio bosses.

Bay has stepped down as the director of the film franchise, starring Shia Labeouf, after two movies, insisting he has "had enough" of making big budget blockbusters.

But a new memo, sent to movie bosses and obtained by, suggests he was unhappy with the way his Transformers sequel was being promoted.

The email to Brad Pitt's former production partner and Paramount boss Brad Grey, dated 4 May, 2009, reads, "I have been waiting, and waiting for the anticipation of an 'event movie' to make it into the public zeitgeist."

Bay calls the print campaign for Transformers: Revenge of The Fallen an "abject failure" and insists the promotion of the movie at the recent MTV Movie Awards was "so lame".

He asks, "Is this is a cash issue with your company?"

In appears either Bay has since reconsidered his comments or Paramount bosses have appeased him with a boosted publicity campaign - because in another leaked email, written earlier this month, the director praises Grey and the studio executives, writing, "Paramount is like family. Thank you all for busting your butts and bringing your 'A game' for the release of Transformers."

The email was a farewell of sorts - last week (ends19Jun09), Bay announced he would not be making a third Transformers film.

He said, "After the three and a half years I've spent making these movies, I feel like I've had enough of the Transformers world. I need to do something totally divergent, something without any explosions."

O'Neal Asks Fawcett To Marry Him
22 June 2009 9:25 AM, PDT

Actor Ryan O'Neal has asked longtime partner Farrah Fawcett to marry him, as she continues her courageous fight against cancer.

The 62-year-old Charlie's Angels star has been battling anal cancer since 2006, with longtime companion O'Neal by her side.

Fawcett's longtime representative Joan Dangerfield told reporters earlier this month the pair - who share 24 year old son Redmond O'Neal - planned to wed last spring in Germany, where the actress was receiving cutting edge treatment. Plans were scrapped when organisers couldn't arrange the big day in time.

O'Neal says the actress is bravely "fighting for her life," and is waiting patiently for Fawcett to become well enough before the couple finally exchange vows.

He says, "I've asked her to marry me again, and she's agreed. I swear to God... If she can just nod her head. I promise you, we will."

The couple, which got engaged late last year, exchanged vows on Saturday and have kick-started married life in Maui.

Faris hinted the pair would run off to wed last month, revealing plans to "slip off and elope" with her then-fiance to avoid the pressure of a large family gathering.

Pratt confirms to, "I'm a very happy guy. We're in Hawaii having a wonderful time."

This is the second marriage for The House Bunny star, who was previously wed to actor Ben Indra.

22 June 2009 9:25 AM, PDT

Rihanna, who was allegedly left cut and bruised after the altercation, was subpoenaed and will give evidence at the hearing.

Although Brown's attorney Mark Geragos lost a last ditch plea deal attempt in a bid to avoid a public trial, television cameras will be banned from the courthouse.

Brown, 20, has pleaded not guilty to the charges against him. He faces a maximum sentence of four years and eight months in jail if convicted.

Cruise & Travolta's Church Of Scientology Under Attack
22 June 2009 3:00 PM, PDT

Church of Scientology elders are defending the celebrity religion against reports one of the faith's leading figures beat subordinates and promoted violence among senior officials.

A group of former executives of the church, which counts Tom Cruise and John Travolta among its high-profile members, has claimed chairman David Miscavige repeatedly struck staff members.

But church leaders are strongly denying the claims, which made up an article in the St. Petersburg Times in Florida over the weekend.

One whistle blower, Mike Rinder, claims, "It was random and whimsical. It could be the look on your face. Or not answering a question quickly. But it always was a punishment.

Rinder oversaw the church’s legal and media relations operations before he quit in 2007. He alleges he was struck by Miscavige several times.

Other former Scientology officials Marty Rathbun and Tom De Vocht claim Miscavige - who was best man at Cruise and Katie Holmes 2006 wedding - often instructed them to beat subordinates and both saw him attack church members.

But church officials in Los Angeles are calling the new claims "absolute and total lies".

Spokesman Tommy Davis told the newspaper that an internal investigation revealed that Rathbun, not Miscavige, was responsible for a spate of violence before he left the church in 2004.

Fonda Slams Fitness Claims
22 June 2009 3:00 PM, PDT

Jane Fonda has blasted reports her famous 'Workouts' are responsible for her recent knee replacement surgery, insisting she suffers from a hereditary form of arthritis.

The actress has a reconstructed left knee and critics claim the surgery would not have been necessary had it not been for Fonda's excessive exercise regime.

One online report suggested the fitness fanatic's famous Jane Fonda Workout programmes, which became cult viewing in the late 1970s and 1980s, were to blame.

But Fonda insists bad genes are the real cause.

In a post-surgery blog, the actress writes, "A recent article in the Daily Mail (newspaper) reports that my knee replacement surgery was the result of years of repetitive pounding from doing my Jane Fonda Workout programs. Wrong! It is a result of osteoarthritis which my father, Henry Fonda, also suffered from, as does my brother, Peter, who may need hip replacement soon.

"You never saw them doing the Jane Fonda Workouts.

"My family’s osteoarthritis (the gradual disappearance of joint cartilage) is a matter of genes, not working out."

The actress adds she's amazed her fitness routines were singled out for blame - considering she has famously abused her body in other ways throughout her life.

Fonda writes, "I am sure that my 25 years of eating disorders didn’t help the condition, and perhaps my decade of running made it worse. But sooner or later I would have needed joint replacement even if I had been totally sedentary."

Gilbert Led Screen Actors Guild As An Alcoholic
22 June 2009 3:00 PM, PDT

Former Little House On The Prairie child star Melissa Gilbert served as president of Hollywood union the Screen Actors Guild while hiding an alcoholism secret.

The actress reveals she used to drink heavily in an effort to sleep at night - and block out the pain of her father and grandfathers' deaths and the pressure of leading Tinseltown's stars.

Now sober, Gilbert reveals all about her alcohol problems in her new memoir Prairie Tales, and tells website, "I was a wife and mother... when my alcoholism really blossomed. It was about 10 years ago, after my grandfather passed away. I felt stuff that I had stuffed away for decades, since my own father passed away.

"I couldn't get my brain to shut off at the end of the day between the kids, having lists of things to do, my job, working, I was president of SAG, etc. I would numb things so I could relax and sleep.

"I started having one glass of wine each night, then three and four glasses, then one bottle, two bottles, and three, just to go to bed at night."

Her then-eight-year-old son Michael made her realise she had a problem when he questioned her drinking.

She recalls, "About five years ago, I was standing in the kitchen and drinking my customary glass of wine while making dinner. He said, 'Mommy, you're not going to drink more wine, are you?' It was just like getting punched in the stomach. I realised this was not the mother, wife, or person I wanted to be. I had to change and fix it."

Gilbert immediately signed up to attend women's-only Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and slowly kicked her boozing habit.

She adds, "It was great for me to be in rooms full of women who were in various stages or far ahead of me in their sobriety, or even women who had less time than me. I learned to gather my strength and move on."

Faris' Publicist Disputes Wedding Reports
22 June 2009 3:00 PM, PDT

Anna Faris' publicist is disputing reports the actress has wed.

After photographs of the House Bunny star and fiance Chris Pratt, wearing wedding rings, appeared online over the weekend (20-21Jun09), the actor allegedly confirmed the nuptials had taken place in Hawaii, to

He reportedly phoned a contact at the website from his Maui hotel suite, stating, "I'm a very happy guy. We're in Hawaii having a wonderful time."

The news came just months after Faris hinted the couple would elope, shortly after she accepted Pratt's proposal earlier this year.

But the wedding news has come as a shock to Faris' representative, who insists the couple hasn't wed.

When asked to comment on the wedding, the publicist tells Ok! Magazine, "It's not true."

But he was in for a shock - he is frequently accosted by starstruck youngsters who are convinced he is a rocker with the clean-cut trio.

Eisenberg says, "I get recognised as a Jonas Brother all the time. I went to a funeral and this girl ran up to me out of breath. She lives across the street from the cemetery and she was hyperventilating because she thought I was a Jonas Brother.

"Someone thought I was a Jonas Brother on a plane coming from New York to L.A. - I don't know their names so I'm sure it's the Jewish-looking one!

"What would be a good idea is signing their names for an autograph. It would be subtle revenge although they'd be happy because it's a better autograph than mine!"

But he admits he is discussing possible projects with TV bosses.

Spacey tells Digital Spy, "Generally they want to come into the rehearsal room and film ad nauseam, but the rehearsal room is sacred - actors need to try things and feel they can fail.

"The notion you can get actors of name and reputation to allow cameras in is very difficult. But discussions are still ongoing, ideas are being thrown around. I think there are ways to be able to do it."

She tells The Hollywood Reporter, "It will be cool to be under people's feet.

"It really is the place where people can understand exactly that actors are not really stars - they don't exist in the sky, they exist on the ground just like everybody else."

Diaz's star can be found right outside the Egyptian Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard.

Mistry Pays Homage To Ibiza Club Scene In New Documentary
22 June 2009 5:05 AM, PDT

Rocknrolla star Jimi Mistry has shot a new documentary about DJ-ing on holiday island Ibiza.

The film chronicles the club scene on Ibiza - and those who play a major part in it.

The movie premiered at the Ibiza Film Festival and will be shown as part of the Notting Hill Festival in London in July.

Mistry tells WENN, "What I hope people get out of the documentary is that Ibiza is a very spiritual place. There's a reason why the best clubs in the world are in Ibiza and I wanted to go and find out why.

"What I found out is it's about the inspiration of being free. Some kids' taste of freedom is to go there for three days and get completely wasted and go to the best club and dance. Other people might spend five days at caves in the mountains and meditate or lie on the beach and eat fresh fish. It's not like anywhere else in the world.

"You can't go to Ibiza and not let go or else the island will spit you out. So if you're willing to let go in whatever way that you can, you'll set a spirit within yourself free."

It endeared me to him.

"He's just a very personable and lovely man and I absolutely mean that in the best possible way."

Judd then wished all race fan dads a Happy Father's Day, and noted, "It's also the Solstice, so it's a cool day."

"But I'm excited because I know there's a lot of history there... and the children will be able to say they spent two-and-a-half months in China."

And she's also worried about the air quality in Beijing: "Everybody keeps telling me, 'Wear your mask... Bring your own air.'"

Baldwin Quit I'm A Celebrity Over Insect Bites
22 June 2009 5:05 AM, PDT

Stephen Baldwin quit reality TV show I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! after insects laid their eggs under his skin.

The actor proved popular on the programme and was tipped to win the series when it ends later this week (beg22Jun09), but he quit on Saturday with no explanation.

Now the star has revealed he was bitten more than 125 times by flying critters - and was told by a medic that the insects had implanted larvae under his skin.

Speaking on blogtalkradio, Baldwin said: "I suffered in the first eight days of production, while in the jungle, over 125 insect bites on my body... I had about thirty on my left leg... 25 or 30 on each arm, kind of all over and two of them, much to my surprise, became quite lumpy initially.

"Within about 72 hours they were these half dollar-sized lumps under my skin that were probably about an inch thick and were situations where they just weren't a reaction that were the same as the others - 123 so to speak.

"I did get to take some time with the medic who explained that in his opinion at that point he didn't think that it was the 'implantation of insect larvae into my flesh', but that - oh gosh - that's what it could be... So they tested these things and sure enough, Stevie B was 'pregnant'."

Baldwin was so intrigued by the process he videotaped the medics removing the larvae from his skin, which he describes as the "creepiest thing that you could think of".

The talk show host has paid more than $750,000 (£500,000) to take 100-plus employees and their families on a ten-day holiday.

The ship left Chicago, Illinois on Saturday and will stop at destinations including Spain, Italy, Turkey, Greece and Malta.

Winfrey will join her staff on the cruise and will cover the cost of their transportation, food, drinks and activities at port stops.

The trip comes four years after Winfrey arranged an all-expenses-paid outing to Hawaii for her workers.

Parker Pulled Over By Cops
22 June 2009 5:05 AM, PDT

Sarah Jessica Parker escaped with a warning after she was pulled over by police for driving without headlights.

The Sex and the City actress was motoring through New York's Hamptons last week (beg15Jun09) when she was stopped by state troopers, who noticed the lights on her Mercedes minivan were not turned on.

The star was driving with her six-year-old son James Wilkie.

A source tells New York Post gossip column PageSix, "She told him (the police officer) it was a brand-new car and she didn't know how to turn them on. They showed her how and let her go with a warning."

Parker confirmed the story through her rep, adding, "The officer was patient and kind."

Gambon Welcomes Second Love Child
22 June 2009 5:05 AM, PDT

Harry Potter star Sir Michael Gambon is expanding his second family - he has fathered another child with his mistress.

The British actor, 68, has a 44-year-old son with his wife, Lady Anne, but splits his time between his family and life with 43-year-old lover Philippa Hart.

Hart gave birth to their first child together, Michael, in 2007 and now the pair has become parents to baby William.

A source tells British newspaper The Sun, "Philippa gave birth at a London hospital without complications and little William is a beautiful, bouncing baby. It is a strange set of circumstances, worthy of a film script in itself. But Michael is very open with his wife and she accepts the second relationship, though there have been rows in the past."

McConaughey To Be A Dad Again
22 June 2009 5:05 AM, PDT

Matthew McConaughey is to become a father again - his girlfriend Camila Alves is pregnant with the couple's second child.

The Hollywood actor, 39, who already has an 11-month-old son, Levi, with Alves, took to the Internet on Father's Day to announce the happy news.

He writes on his official website, "Happy Father's Day. It's my first, and the last 11 months with Levi and Camila have been the most rewarding adventure to date. We have more blessed news to celebrate this Father's Day that (will) make this time next year double the fun. Levi is going to be a big brother... Yeah, we pulled off the greatest miracle in the world one more time, Camila and I are expecting our second child, bringing more life into the world, making more to live for. The future looks bright as the family grows."

Hart Tried Paparazzi Life In Cox And Aniston's Shoes
22 June 2009 1:05 AM, PDT

British actor Ian Hart researched his role as a paparazzi in Courteney Cox's axed TV drama series Dirt by pretending to be the former Friends star.

The Backbeat actor agreed to take Cox's car for a spin after dining with the actress and her pal Jennifer Aniston - and quickly realised how dangerous life can be for an A-list celebrity.

Hart says, "I drove their car for them to drive the photographers outside off the scent. It is completely round the bend. At Courteney's house they're constantly popping their heads over the fence like little rabbits... they're hiding in the bushes. It seems impossible for them to leave home without the paparazzi following them.

"Courteney is very fortunate to live a nice life on the beach in a lovely house in Malibu, but they've had to put up a big fence so they can't see the ocean, so what's the point? Both Courteney and Jennifer have a very sensible attitude towards it - they accept it, they know it's not gonna go away.

"If it was me, I'd be in prison because someone would get hit or a camera would get smashed. Then I'd have to take an anger management course. It wouldn't end well."

Hart played a shady, schizophrenic paparazzo on the U.S. show, which was a critical success but a rating failure.

Mistry Filmed Breastfeeding Wife At World Trade Center A Week Before 9/11
22 June 2009 1:05 AM, PDT

Anglo-Indian actor Jimi Mistry has haunting memories of the 9/11 attack on New York because he filmed his wife breastfeeding the couple's two-month-old baby on the steps of the World Trade Center a week before the Twin Towers fell.

The Blood Diamond and RockNRolla star was in the Big Apple filming The Guru when he took a day off to show his wife and daughter the sights.

He tells WENN, "I remember very, very vividly it was a week to the day before 9/11 and me and my two-month-old daughter and my wife went downtown to get the Staten Island ferry for our final hurrah to New York.

"It was a dead quiet, a beautiful sunny day and I was videoing my wife breastfeeding on the steps of the World Trade Center, and walking to the ferry going, 'Wow, wow, wow' the whole time.

"I got on the plane the next day to London and then a week later I watched what happened on the television at my gym. I felt so privileged to have witnessed and lived in New York before the city changed."

But Mistry is so haunted by the memory of his last day in New York he hasn't been able to watch the footage he shot: "It's in my loft. I also have two tickets for the top of the World Trade Center, which we never got to use; they haven't been ripped.

"I haven't taken my daughter back to New York since then but I'm going to take her back one day."

Connery Urges Burns Party Guests To Dance For Scotland
22 June 2009 1:05 AM, PDT

Sean Connery was the lord of the dance at a party to celebrate the 250th birthday of legendary Scottish poet Robert Burns on Friday night.

The former James Bond star led the festivities at the Homecoming Party at the Edinburgh Festival in Scotland by insisting everyone at the bash had to take part in a ceilidh (traditional Scottish dance) at the city's Assembly Rooms.

The proud Scot said, "I want everybody to get up and ceilidh, so nobody should think to take off. I'll be watching."

Fellow celebrity Frank Langella wasn't about to incur Connery's wrath - he was among the party guests trying to keep up with seasoned dancers.

Greene & Grenier Are Planet-Friendly Pals
22 June 2009 1:05 AM, PDT

Twilight star Ashley Greene insists she is not romancing rumoured boyfriend Adrian Grenier - they share a love of environmental issues.

The actress has been linked to the Entourage star since they were spotted together at a recent charity surfing event.

And Greene is adamant the pair's chat was far from romantic - insisting they talked about their eco-friendly interests.

She tells, "I have only met him once. But he's very smart. We actually started talking about environmental stuff. He's a very go-green guy. I think he's a really sweet guy."

Pitt's Moneyball Not Rolling
22 June 2009 1:05 AM, PDT

Brad Pitt has landed himself a longer summer vacation - his new movie has reportedly been shelved.

Sports film Moneyball was scheduled to go before the cameras on Monday but studio executives at Columbia Pictures were unhappy with director Steven Soderbergh's final script adaptation of Michael Lewis bestselling book, according to trade publication Daily Variety.

According to the magazine, Columbia Pictures president Amy Pascal made the decision to halt the movie late last week (ends19Jun09).

As WENN went to press, there were no details as to whether the film, about baseball general manager Billy Beane, would be delayed or cancelled indefinitely.

Pitt had signed on to play Beane.

Miller & Getty Back Together?
22 June 2009 1:05 AM, PDT

Sienna Miller has sparked speculation she has reunited with ex-boyfriend Balthazar Getty after the pair was reportedly snapped kissing on a romantic Italian break.

The British beauty found herself at the centre of a major scandal involving Getty in 2008 after he reportedly cheated on his wife with her.

Following a barrage of negative press, the couple went its separate ways earlier this year.

And only days after Miller spoke about the split with Vogue magazine, admitting she had been "naive and trusting" about the romance, the actress has been spotted enjoying a cosy vacation with the Brothers & Sisters star.

Miller and Getty were photographed enjoying a holiday in Positano, Italy on Sunday (June 21), prompting rumours they have decided to give their relationship another go.

Griffiths Gives Birth To A Daughter
22 June 2009 1:05 AM, PDT

Actress Rachel Griffiths has welcomed her third child with husband Andrew Taylor.

The Australian star gave birth to a baby girl last week (ends21Jun09) and is ecstatic with the new addition to her brood.

Griffiths and Taylor are already parents to five-year-old son, Banjo Patrick, and Adelaide Rose, three.

But the news might not be welcomed by Griffiths pals - who insist the star is a much nicer person when she's pregnant.

She explained before the birth, "Apparently I'm really nice pregnant. The wardrobe department begged me never to have this baby. They said, 'We love you pregnant; you're so much nicer.' Maybe I'm less hormonal."
