Jolie Films Video For Refugees
15 June 2009 3:00 PM, PDT
Hollywood star Angelina Jolie is continuing her fight work as a United Nations
(Un) ambassador by filming a video urging the world to recognise the plight
of refugees.
The actress, who serves as a Refugees Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations
High Commission, has long battled to help millions of people who have been
forced to flee their homes because of war or persecution.
Jolie visited a refugee centre in Northern Thailand in February and her experiences
led her to make an emotive appeal urging Thai officials to free thousands of
displaced Burmese citizens, who have been held in camps for up to 20 years.
Her comments drew the wrath of the Thai government who chastised Un bosses
for allowing the star to visit the camps.
But Jolie has refused to slow her campaign and she has now appeared in a video
to promote World Refugee Day, on 20 June.
The Tomb Raider star addresses the camera in the short film, urging people
across the world to pay more attention to the problems of others.
Jolie begins by telling viewers not to look away as harrowing video footage
of the desperate displaced flashes onto the screen.
She says, "Refugees are the most vulnerable people on earth. Every day
they are fighting to survive. They deserve our respect, please do not forget
them. Remember them on this day, World Refugee Day."

Moore Pokes Fun At U.S. Fat Cat Bosses In New Film Trailer
15 June 2009 3:00 PM, PDT
Bowling For Columbine documentary maker Michael Moore poked fun at America's
economic crisis at the weekend (13-14Jun09) by asking moviegoers to give
generously to struggling big businessmen as part of a cinema collection skit.
Moore appeared onscreen in theatres in New York, Washington, D.C, Chicago
and Los Angeles in a trailer for his upcoming social satire movie, which will
take a look at the U.S. economy, and teamed up with cinema staff to kick off
a fundraiser.
Ushers wearing T-shirts with the slogan 'Save Our CEO's' passed around a tin
can while the onscreen Moore said, "Instead of using this time to tell
you about my new movie, I'd like to take a moment and ask you to join me in
helping our fellow Americans."
He added, "The downturn in the economy has hurt many people. People who
have had no choice but to go on government assistance, yet our welfare agencies
can only do so much. That's why I'm asking you to reach into your pockets right
now and lend a hand.
"Ushers will be coming down the aisles to collect your donations for
Citibank, Bank of America, Aig, Goldman Sachs, Jp Morgan and a host of other
needy banks and corporations. Won't you please give generously?"
After Moore's speech, a message flashed across the screen, which read, 'Michael
Moore, the new movie coming soon. This Time It's Personal.'

Megan Fox Is Hoping For Rain
15 June 2009 3:00 PM, PDT
Sexy Megan Fox has her sights set on Korean pop superstar Rain after confirming
she's no longer dating actor Brian Austin Green.
The Transformers star ended her engagement to Green earlier this year, but
maintained the couple was still trying to work out its relationship in a recent
magazine interview.
Now, however, it appears Fox is on the prowl - and she's looking to the East
for her new man.
She says, "There is this Korean Justin Timberlake, named Rain, and I'm
really on his situation now. I'm trying to fix this up."
Rain hit the headlines in March when he was ordered to pay a Hawaiian concert
promoter $8 million (GBP5.3million) in damages for cancelling a concert in
2007.
Rain is also facing a suit from promoters in Los Angeles after cancelling
a string of gigs on his 2007 U.S. tour.

Greene And Reed Quitting Smoking
15 June 2009 3:00 PM, PDT
Twilight actresses Ashley Greene and Nikki Reed are desperately trying to kick
their nicotine habit with the help of fake cigarettes.
The two stars are conscious of their status as role models for their young
fans and want to set an example by quitting smoking. And they've turned to
imitation cigarettes SmokeStiks to aid them in their challenge.
A source tells Eonline.com, "Everyone on the cast (of Twilight and sequel
New Moon) smokes, and they are all trying to quit because they are on Twilight
and know they are in the public eye.
"(Greene and Reed) know they are role models for little kids. If there
are a ton of paparazzi photos of them smoking, that's not a positive image.
"SmokeStiks look like those fake cigarettes actors use in plays. There's
no smoke; it just lights up when you puff."

Wood's Confrontation With Foster Over Flora Plum Role
15 June 2009 3:00 PM, PDT
Evan Rachel Wood didn't know whether to "kiss or punch" Jodie Foster
when they met to discuss her role in forthcoming film Flora Plum - because
she blames the Oscar winner for a childhood trauma.
As a child Wood was pushed to emulate the actress' career, by her mother,
who was obsessed with the Oscar winner.
The 21 year old even attended the same schools and learned to speak French
- like her mum's idol.
So Wood found meeting Foster in person an odd experience.
She tells the New York Daily News, "I had to sit my mum down one day
and look at her and say, 'I'm not Jodie Foster. I'm me, and that's who I'm
going to be. Okay?'
"I actually got to sit down with Jodie and I thought, 'Not that this
is a bad thing, but you've haunted me my entire life. I don't know whether
to kiss you or punch you.' But she was amazing.
"If I could pick anyone to have a conversation with or ask advice from,
it would be her. I wept going to sleep the night before, and I wept waiting
for her at the restaurant. It was a big deal for me."

Simpson Suit To Stay In Storage
15 June 2009 3:00 PM, PDT
A judge has ruled the suit worn by O.J. Simpson at the end of his 1995 murder
trial will stay in storage - until the battle over who owns the clothing is
resolved.
Simpson was cleared of homicide charges in relation to the death of his ex-wife,
Nicole Simpson Brown, and her friend Ron Goldman, after a highly-publicised
criminal trial, and the suit he was wearing on the day of his acquittal has
since become the subject of much legal wrangling.
Simpson's former manager, Mike Gilbert, claims the disgraced former football
star gave him his clothing the day after his trial ended on 3 October 1995.
But Ron Goldman's father Fred, who is seeking to sell the suit Simpson wore
to court - in a bid to settle the payout from a civil suit against the sportsman,
insists he should have the suit.
Goldman and his family won a wrongful death lawsuit against Simpson, and they
are pursuing the $42 million (£28.3 million) settlement while the star serves
time in prison for his conviction on robbery and kidnapping charges in Las
Vegas.
A hearing at Santa Monica Superior Court on Monday, heard testimony from Gilbert,
who claimed the suit as his property because Simpson had not been found civilly
liable for the two deaths when he gave him the garments.
Judge Gerald Rosenberg ruled the suit cannot be sold until ownership has been
proved - demanding the item remain in storage until a decision can be made.

Williams Thankful For Ugly Betty Move
15 June 2009 12:15 PM, PDT
Vanessa Williams is relieved the Ugly Betty set has relocated to New York from
Los Angeles - because she can spend more time with her family.
The first two seasons of the hit show were filmed in L.A. before shooting
relocated to Manhattan last year.
And Williams, who plays Wilhelmina Slater, is thankful she can now live in
her native city, because she found it unbearable spending so much time away
from her four children.
She says, "I benefit too because all my kids are in New York. My two
older girls (Melanie, 22, and Jillian, 20) are at college there, my son (Devin,
16) is in high school and Sasha is in third grade. So now I'm up in the morning
and driving my kids to school. I pick them up in the evening and I can bring
them home and cook for them.
"I've always wanted to have my children around. And if I'm not there
in person, I'm constantly talking to them on my BlackBerry... My kids still
sleep in my bed when they're scared and they want a snuggle. I love the closeness
that I have with all my children."

Parker And Kodjoe Not Expecting Again
15 June 2009 12:15 PM, PDT
Actress Nicole Ari Parker has laughed off reports she and her actor husband
Boris Kodjoe are expecting their third child together.
The 39 year old, who appears alongside Eddie Murphy in new movie Imagine That,
has two kids with her former Soul Food TV co-star Kodjoe, but insists they
have no plans to expand their family in the immediate future.
And she's baffled when fans approach her to wish her luck with the pregnancy
- because she's been working on keeping trim and in shape.
She says, "Despite the rumours, I am not pregnant with our third child.
"People come up to me and congratulate me and I'm like, 'I do all these
sit ups. Do you not see me in this sundress, do I look five months pregnant
to you?' And they're like, 'No, but it said that in (the gossip blogs).' Then
I say, 'But I'm standing here right in front of you!'"
The couple, which wed in 2005, share four-year-old daughter, Sophie, and two-year-old
son, Nicolas.

Bullock Loves Her Role As Stepmum
15 June 2009 12:15 PM, PDT
Sandra Bullock is happy to play mum to her husband Jesse James' daughter Sunny
- even though it hurts not to have children of her own.
The Proposal actress is stepmother to James' two children from his first marriage,
and Sunny from his second wife, porn star Janine Lindemulder.
She is playing mum to Sunny while Lindemulder is serving a six-month jail
sentence for tax evasion - and is loving her new role because it gives her
a taste of what she's missing.
Bullock says, "I may never hear that word ‘mom'. But being a parent is
not about breeding. It’s about caring. And it’s easy to say, but it’s harder
to do.
"When you don’t have that title, you flounder and it hurts. But this
is the best test of being a parent. And I just have to keep reminding myself
I don’t care what I get. I care what I give.”

Wood Terrified To Be Axed From Allen's Whatever Works
15 June 2009 12:15 PM, PDT
Evan Rachel Wood feared director Woody Allen was going to fire her from new
movie Whatever Works - after she screwed up her very first scene.
Wood was stunned when she received a handwritten note from the filmmaker asking
her to review a copy of the script and leaped at the chance to work with him,
despite battling nerves about starring in her first comedy.
And the 21 year old was certain Allen would give her the axe, after he demanded
she reshoot her very first scene.
She tells the New York Daily News, "You hear things about what it's like
to work with him. You know - he reshoots a lot, that people will get fired
if it's not working. That he'll just say, 'This isn't working, I'll recast.'
"Knowing I hadn't done comedy before, I hadn't met him, I hadn't auditioned
- the first day I was just convinced I was going to be fired. Sweating. I knew
I could do it if I could just keep my nerves under control. But the first scene
we shot we ended up reshooting anyway, so you're not going to see it."

Lohan Under Investigation Over Missing Jewels
15 June 2009 10:30 AM, PDT
Lindsay Lohan is at the center of a London police investigation in connection
with the theft of jewelery from a magazine photo shoot.
The actress was in the English capital recently, when she posed for an upcoming
spread in fashion glossy Elle, according to sources.
Website HolyMoly.com claims the actress kept asking about the gems on loan
for the shoot - and then allegedly left with them.
An insider tells the website, "She kept going on about the jewels, asking
if she could have them. We all thought she was joking."
The jewelers realized the $45,000 worth of bling was missing after the shoot
and contacted magazine bosses, who insisted they had no knowledge of what had
become of the gems.
The editors and jewellers then spent two weeks trying to get a response from
the Mean Girls actress, but she reportedly left the U.K. last week without
getting back to them.
According to the website, the matter was handed over to British police late
last week.
This isn't the first time Lohan has been linked with stolen goods - Louis
Vuitton bosses reportedly refuse to deal with her anymore after she repeatedly
nabbed stuff from their shoots, and the actress was caught up in a fur coat
fracas after allegedly taking home a Russian student's $11,000 mink from a
New York club last year.
The coat’s rightful owner, Masha Markova, claimed Lohan swiped her coat -
a gift from her grandmother - as she left a private party.
Markova feared she'd never see the fashion item again, but couldn't believe
her luck when she saw Lohan wearing it in a magazine photo.
After threatening legal action and going public with the coat story, Markova's
fur was returned to her.
Lohan's publicist failed to respond to WENN about this story before we went
to press.

- which is foolish, but that’s about it."

a script change.
Glau was scheduled to begin filming the independent movie this week (begs15Jun09)

a steamy onscreen kiss with co-stars Taniya Raymonde and Ryan Eggold added
to the storyline were ignored, according to the New York Post.
A source says, "She wanted to cut a risque dream sequence where she kisses
Taniya Raymonde and Ryan Eggold."

De Niro Dismisses Mob Photo
15 June 2009 9:12 AM, PDT
Robert De Niro has dismissed rumours he arranged meetings with a mob boss to
research his role in crime comedy Analyze This - insisting he doesn't recall
taking a never-before-seen photo with a gangster on set.
The Oscar-winning actor, who is famous for meticulously researching his roles,
played a neurotic mafioso in the 1999 movie.
A source tells the New York Daily News Anthony Corozzo - an associate of the
infamous Gambino crime family, who played an extra in Analyze This - introduced
De Niro to mobster Anthony 'Fat Andy' Ruggiano. Ruggiano died in March 1999
and was involved in at least seven murders.
A photograph of the pair taken in De Niro's trailer has sparked rumours the
actor set up meetings with members of the ruthless crime family to prepare
for his role.
But De Niro's spokesperson Stan Rosenfeld insists the movie was made far too
long ago for the actor to remember Ruggiano.
Rosenfeld adds: "Bob (De Niro) seldom, if ever, discusses his research
techniques."

He tells U.S. news show Access Hollywood, "Quite frankly, I give a lot

by crew working on the movie. He also alleges Spacey told him, "Don't

Stewart Praises Star Trek Movie
15 June 2009 1:05 AM, PDT
Former Star Trek: The Next Generation actor Patrick Stewart has praised director
Jj Abrams for successfully resurrecting the franchise - insisting he "loved" the

Abrams brought the sci-fi franchise back to cinemas this year with Star Trek,
a prequel to the original 1960s TV show, featuring a new cast of young actors.
Stewart played Captain Jean-Luc Picard in the Star Trek: The Next Generation
TV series for seven years and brought his character to the big screen in four
spin-off films, including 2002's Star Trek Nemesis.
And the British star insists he is delighted the original show has been resurrected
once again and is full of praise for Chris Pine, who portrays a young Captain
James T. Kirk in the new movie.
He says, "He's brilliant, charming, funny and utterly delightful."
And Stewart is adamant he is not bitter about movie bosses' decision to leave
him out of the new movie, adding, "I loved it. It was a very odd experience
to be in the cinema watching a Star Trek movie that I wasn't in. With the exception
of Leonard Nimoy, I didn't know any of the cast but it's still Star Trek. I
got a great kick out of it."

Cohen Threatened With Guns During Bruno Shoot
15 June 2009 1:05 AM, PDT
British comic Sacha Baron Cohen was reportedly threatened by a group of men
with guns after embarrassing them as he filmed new movie Bruno in America's
Deep South.
The funnyman was shooting scenes for the upcoming film in one of the USA's
southern states last year with a group of deer hunters.
But the unsuspecting participants in the movie reportedly became angry when
the star, in character as the flamboyant Austrian fashion journalist, stripped
off and pranced naked around their campsite.
The hunters are then said to have turned their guns on Cohen, who was forced
to flee with his film crew, according to British newspaper the Daily Mirror.
A source tells the publication, "The crew thought something serious would
happen, they were in the middle of nowhere. The hunters thought he was an Austrian
TV presenter doing a travel piece. But his behaviour became outrageous. He
said they were all like Sex and the City girls and it all went downhill from
there.
"Everyone had turned in for the night when Sacha started dancing around
the campsite naked. They immediately went for their guns and loaded them in
front of the camera. He tried to calm them down but they were furious so they
had to get out of there. Everyone was really shaken up by it all."

Vardalos Fires Off At 'Fat-ist' Hollywood
14 June 2009 6:30 PM, PDT
Actress Nia Vardalos has fired off at Hollywood executives who greenlight film
romances featuring "fat" Russell Crowe and Seth Rogen and then
poke fun at her for finding love with hunks on the big screen.
The My Big Fat Greek Wedding star is tired of Tinseltown's double standards
when it comes to pairing up stars for movie love stories - because older women
can't get away with dating hunks, while ageing actors regularly romance hotties.
And she's had enough of the questions about her own onscreen match-ups with
the likes of John Corbett and My Life In Ruins co-star Alexis Georgoulis.
She tells CNN, "On the publicity tour of My Big Fat Greek Wedding I was
asked over and over again, if, as the writer, I felt it was a fair depiction
of real life to have someone of my below average looks, hook up with hottie
John Corbett.
"I thought I was attractive when I shot My Big Fat Greek Wedding. Studio
executives and movie reviewers let me know I had a confidence in my looks that
was not shared by them. In other words, they labelled me with words like, overweight,
unattractive, unappealing. Hey, just say fat. I love the word fat. I used it
in the title. It’s actually not a naughty word.
"I have sat through many a movie like Sideways, where nobody blinks an
eye when Paul Giamatti gets together with gorgeous Virginia Madsen, and Knocked
Up. I mean the visual of Seth Rogen on top of Katherine Heigl made me put the
popcorn down and reach for my purse... because I knew the film was about to
stop and Ashton Kutcher would now jump out and go, 'Aha, you’ve been punked.'
I waited, but no Ashton.
"Socially, the issue of men’s weight is simply not a big deal. Let’s
face it, Russell Crowe is fat and no one ever talks about it. Alec Baldwin
just orders his suits a size bigger and we continue to swoon.
"Meanwhile, I get hit with this awkward question about my weightloss
daily and I have answered it in press interviews, at the grocery store, at
the newspaper stand. Why? Because I see their (people) anxious, open faces
needing the secret, the new pill, the cure, anything: 'Just please share the
secret'. So I hesitantly answer and I am always met with the same response:
the glaze-eye, slack-jawed face.
"They don’t want to hear the truth - I had a blood sugar problem, so
my doctor ordered me to lose weight. It was really hard but I did it through
diet and exercise, and it took a year."

Newton To Teach Acting In South Africa
14 June 2009 6:30 PM, PDT
Thandie Newton is to put her acting skills to good use - passing on her talent
to children in the slums of South Africa.
The Crash star is to teach acting at Oprah Winfrey's Leadership Academy, a
boarding school for girls growing up in poverty in the country.
British-born Newton says, "I am really looking forward to it as it's
such a great scheme and it's nice to give something back."
The Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls opened in January 2007 after
the country's former president, Nelson Mandela, asked the TV mogul to help
support educational causes in South Africa.

Fox Not Yet Cast In Buffy Movie
14 June 2009 6:30 PM, PDT
Buffy The Vampire Slayer producers have brushed off rumours Hollywood siren
Megan Fox has signed up to star in the TV show's upcoming big screen revival
- insisting casting has yet to begin.
The title character in the blood sucking series, most famously played by Sarah
Michelle Gellar, was originally brought to cinemas in the 1992 movie of the
same name, starring Kristy Swanson.
Gellar's TV show ran for seven years before coming to an end in 2003.
And Fox has been a rumoured favourite to revive the series since studio bosses
announced last month they are looking for a new vampire slayer to take the
story back to the big screen.
But producer Roy Lee insists casting has yet to begin: "The rumours of
Megan Fox being involved with Buffy are just rumours. As with any film project
with a female lead under the age of 30, Megan is the actress that most studios
want so it is no surprise her name is mentioned. While I think she would be
great for our project, we are still in the early stages of developing the script."

Foxx: 'Berry Kiss Was A Joke'
14 June 2009 6:30 PM, PDT
Jamie Foxx has brushed off critics of his impromptu kiss with Halle Berry at
a recent U.S. awards ceremony - insisting their lip lock was a prank conjured
up by the actress.
Foxx presented the sexy star with the Hottest Girl On the Planet award at
Spike TV's 2nd Annual Guy's Choice Awards in Los Angeles last month, and they
shocked the audience with a passionate on stage embrace.
The actor/singer is still mesmerised by their steamy session, but insists
he didn't step out of line by kissing the star - who shares a 15-month-old
daughter, Nahla, with partner Gabriel Aubry.
Foxx explains, "It was a joke. First, I want to let everybody know that
I respect Halle Berry and I respect her relationship. But after she won the
(2001) Oscar, Adrien Brody came up and laid a little tongue on her. So she
decided to get me back, which I didn't mind at all."
And the Ray star admits he was so nervous before pulling Berry's prank, he
nearly backed out at the last second.
He adds, "I almost froze but I said, 'Think quick Foxx,' and I got into
it... she really gave it to me and I appreciate that."
