Pegg: 'I'd Swap Acting For Directing'
2 October 2008 12:06 PM, PDT

British funnyman Simon Pegg would like to swap acting for a more low-key role in showbiz - he wants to become a director.

The Shaun of the Dead actor wrote and starred in a number of British television shows before making the move into Hollywood movies, and is now considering working behind the camera.

And the star confesses the reason he wants to start directing is because he is sick of all the crap he has to deal with as an actor.

He says, "I think I'm ready now because I have a lot of ideas of my own. Part of me just wants to do that (directing) and f**k off out of the limelight.

"I completely understand why a lot of actors retreat into directing. You get to be part of the world of filmmaking, but you don't have to deal with any of the s**t."

Movie Pooch Saved From 'Doggy Death Row'
2 October 2008 12:06 PM, PDT

The canine star of new movie Beverly Hills Chihuahua was saved from certain death when Hollywood animal trainer Mike Alexander discovered him on a California animal shelter's 'doggy death row'.

Rusco was set to be put down after he was found wandering the streets of Moreno Valley, and no one came to claim him.

But Alexander spotted him on an online directory and decided he would be perfect for the role of Papi in the new film.

He then had a race against time to save Rusco from a lethal injection.

Alexander tells the National Enquirer, "I rushed down to the shelter, but it was so far away and I had traffic to deal with. When I got there they were just closing the doors."

He returned the next day and was thrilled to discover Rusco was still alive: "After spending a little time with him, I knew that this was going to be Papi."

Rusco plays a tough street pooch in the movie. His voice is added by comedian George Lopez. Drew Barrymore lends her voice to Papi's love interest Chloe.

Famous Cars To Be Auctioned
2 October 2008 12:06 PM, PDT

A Ferarri driven by Cameron Diaz in Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle is among a string of famous cars set to go under the hammer at an upcoming London auction.

The vintage sports car will join the 1965 Aston Martin DB9 which featured in Robbie Williams' Millennium music video, and a 1955 Ford Thunderbird that was once owned by John Travolta in the sale.

The auction will take place in London's Battersea Park on 29 October and is expected to raise more than $37 million (GBP20 million).

2 October 2008 12:06 PM, PDT

Actors Rob McElhenney and Kaitlin Olson have wed in an intimate ceremony in Malibu, California.

The couple, stars of U.S. comedy It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, exchanged vows in a vineyard last Saturday.

Guests included co-star Danny DeVito, actor/director Fred Savage and Emily Deschanel.

But McElhenney and Olson are not the first It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia stars to marry - co-stars Charlie Day and Mary Elizabeth Ellis wed in 2006, reports People.com.

Scorsese and De Niro Go Back to the Mafia
2 October 2008 12:06 PM, PDT

Goodfellas director Martin Scorsese and the movie's star Robert De Niro are returning to the murky underworld of the New York mob for a new gangster film.

De Niro has signed to play Frank 'the Irishman' Sheeran in the Scorsese-directed project - based on the book I Heard You Paint Houses.

Sheeran was a mafia assassin reputed to have carried out 25 murders; his victims are rumoured to include Teamsters union boss Jimmy Hoffa, who disappeared in 1975.

The book was written by Charles Brandt, who befriended Sheeran before his death in 2003. Brandt claims Sheeran confessed a number of killings, including Hoffa's.

The pair will also produce the movie with Paramount Pictures. Gangs of New York and American Gangster screenwriter Steve Zaillian has been hired to adapt the book, reports Daily Variety.

Hathaway 'Embraces' Pale Skin
2 October 2008 12:06 PM, PDT

Hollywood actress Anne Hathaway has learned to "embrace" her pale skin after a fake tanning session left her looking like she had leprosy.

The Get Smart star confesses that she once attempted to give her skin a golden glow - but that was her first and last experience with the beauty treatment.

She says, "I did try it once and it looked good. But I'm so pale that when it started to fade it looked like I had leprosy. Now I just embrace the pale look."

SPOILER! - Jimmy Smits Stabs Stuntman For Real In TV Scene-Gone-Wrong
2 October 2008 12:06 PM, PDT

A TV stuntman is lucky to be alive after actor Jimmy Smits stabbed him for real during a fight scene for TV show Dexter.

Smits grabbed a real knife instead of a prop knife during shooting and plunged it into action man Jeff Chase.

Chase was only saved by a piece of plastic placed over his heart - which Smits miraculously hit.

He says, "For the scene, I was bound in Saran Wrap, duct tape over my mouth. I couldn't say a thing as I saw Jimmy grab at the knife. He picked up the real one by pure mistake. It was a mean looking knife.

"I heard fellow actor Michael C. Hall yelling at Jimmy to stop - but it was too late. I felt the thud in my chest. I didn't have on a metal breast plate like a lot of actors do in a scene like that.

"Instead I had a piece of acrylic clear plastic about the size of a Post-it note over my heart. It was a quarter of an inch thick and not attacked. In eight out of 10 takes with the prop knife, Jimmy had missed the plastic. But by a miracle, an act of God, the knife landed at the very edge of the plastic.

"I really thought I'd been stabbed in the heart, but I didn't have a scratch. Jimmy was devastated and couldn't stop apologising. I told him, I felt more sorry for him than me."

Moore: 'I Was Too Old For Bond'
2 October 2008 12:06 PM, PDT

James Bond legend Sir Roger Moore is convinced he looked like a "dirty old man" as the superspy - because he grew too old for the part.

The actor played the suave secret agent until he was 58 years old, and knows that his steamy clinches with young star in his final two Bond films - Octopussy and A View to a Kill - might have left audiences squirming.

He tells WENN, "Of course I was getting long in the tooth. I was 58 when I finished. My god, Gary Cooper was seemingly an old man when he was about 56 doing Love in the Afternoon with Audrey Hepburn.

"And I started to realise. When the leading ladies came in and they were younger than my daughter, I thought 'Hmm, this is getting on a bit'. And then...god, I could have had them as granddaughters. It becomes rather disgusting - dirty old man."

But despite the criticism from some movie fans that he played the role for too long and should have retired earlier, Moore insists he does not regret a thing about his time as 007.

He adds, "Well, I still got paid, and had a lot of laughs. I didn't regret any of it. I note that occasionally when I look at the internet and I've typed in a reference and then suddenly up comes my name again and then I see the blogs where (people write that) I was too light and I was too old.

"I would say to (my assistant) Gareth, 'Jesus, they hate me'. He said, 'You realise that people who sit down and blog have got nothing else to do - they're all bitter!' So I say, 'Well, they're all bitter' - sod 'em!"

Single Portman Sells Up
2 October 2008 12:06 PM, PDT

Hollywood star Natalie Portman is moving on from her split with musician ex-boyfriend Devendra Banhart - by ditching her New York home.

Just weeks after the Star Wars actress ended her romance with Banhart, she has sold the West Village condominium she has called home for the past three years, for $6.55 million (GBP3.5 million).

Despite the economic crisis in the U.S., Portman only had to drop $150,000 (GBP83,000) off her original asking price of $6.7 million (GBP3.7 million) - leaving her with a healthy $850,000 (GBP460,000) profit on the apartment.

The home, in the trendy Charles Street neighbourhood, boasts three bedrooms, three bathrooms and a huge balcony.

Jolie-Pitt Clan Arrives In New York City
2 October 2008 12:06 PM, PDT

Angelina Jolie has been photographed for the first time since giving birth to twins in July, arriving in New York on Wednesday for the premiere of her new movie.

The actress, her partner Brad Pitt and their six kids arrived in the city, ahead of Saturday's New York Film Festival screening of the Clint Eastwood-directed Changeling.

Jolie has been staying out of the spotlight since delivering twins Knox and Vivienne in a French hospital more than two months ago.

She even avoided the prying eyes of the press when the clan relocated to Berlin, Germany last month so Pitt could start shooting Quentin Tarantino's new movie Inglorious Bastards.

But Jolie will show off her post-baby body on the red carpet on Saturday.

Lohan And Ronson Househunt In New York
2 October 2008 12:06 PM, PDT

Lovebirds Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson are househunting in New York, according to reports.

Just a week after Lohan confirmed she is more than just friends with DJ Ronson, the pair is planning to set up home together in the city's famous Dakota Building - home to a number of stars, and where John Lennon was shot dead in 1980.

A friend tells the National Enquirer, "They want a fresh start. They're going to settle down in the city and eventually get married. Everything is falling into place - and Lindsay has never been happier."

Craig: 'Bond Curse Rumor Is Offensive'
2 October 2008 12:06 PM, PDT

James Bond star Daniel Craig is appalled by the recent rumours of a "curse" on the set of forthcoming 007 movie Quantum Of Solace - dismissing the idea as "offensive".

The production of the film was marred by accidents - including a crash which left stuntman Aris Comninos critically injured and an Aston Martin sportscar being accidentally driven into a lake.

Craig also suffered his fair share of injuries - the actor was rushed to hospital after slicing off the top of his finger; he suffered a bruised eye and fractured arm, as well as requiring eight stitches to repair a gash in his face caused during a fight scene.

All of the disasters led internet gossips to speculate about a film curse - but Craig insists the mere suggestion of it is ridiculous.

He tells Britain's GQ magazine, "The thing about the Curse of Bond thing is that it's f**king offensive, really. Let's be honest. It's f**king offensive.

"There's a risk in everything we do and we literally have the best people in the world who do this and every precaution is taken to minimise the risk. But there is a risk. And there's no blame. Taking my finger as part of a 'curse' - that's offensive. This is what we do but it gets magnified and taken out of context."

Stone Fires Back At Court's Botox Statement
2 October 2008 12:06 PM, PDT

Sharon Stone has fired back at reports from leaked court documents suggesting she once planned to inject Botox into her son Roan's feet to stop an odour issue, insisting the statement is "a complete fabrication".

A highly critical Tentative Statement of Decision, relating to Stone's most recent child custody battle with her ex-husband Phil Bronstein, claimed the actress wanted the eight year old to receive Botox treatments for his "foot odor".

Stone's high-powered attorney Marty Singer has now released a statement on his client's behalf, in which he states, "This week it was reported in connection with Sharon Stone's custody dispute that she wanted to have her young 8-year-old son undergo Botox treatment at this time for his feet.

"Sharon Stone never made this statement. It is a complete fabrication.

"Sharon loves her son Roan and only wants the best for him."

Stone lost her battle to increase visitation time with Roan during a court hearing last month, and a judge ruled that Bronstein would continue to have "permanent sole physical custody of child".

Pegg Warns Off Fame Wannabes
2 October 2008 8:59 AM, PDT

British funnyman Simon Pegg shuns the limelight - because courting publicity is like swimming with sharks.

The Hot Fuzz star hates being famous - but insists anyone who craves it deserves the coverage they get.

He says, "I don't seek fame. People take it on unwisely and it's a monster in a way. If they go out there and court it, it's like wading into a shark-infested pool with a cut leg, then they complain when they get their leg bitten off. The key is not to go swimming in the first place."

Piven Denies DVD Tip Rumour
2 October 2008 8:59 AM, PDT

Entourage star Jeremy Piven has denied he once left a DVD of the show as a tip in a restaurant - insisting the rumour was completely made up.

Last year, a New York gossip columnist reported that the actor had been banned from the exclusive Nobu restaurant in Aspen, Colorado after leaving the first season of Entourage on the table as a tip following a meal.

But Piven insists that the incident never happened.

He says, "That's a good one. I don't even have a DVD of Entourage. The idea I would bring it with me and use it as a tip - these are creative people and they put some time and some energy into this. I think these are wasted talents."

Piven has also denied claims that he often demands extra goodie bags at celebrity events - admitting that when he does go home with free products, he gives it straight to his family.

He adds, "I have two nieces, Lily Rose and Pearl, who are insanely talented angels. I might want to grab something for them, but I don't know if I would want a blinged-out pink phone."

Rose Sells House To Afford McDermott Divorce
2 October 2008 8:59 AM, PDT

Actress Shiva Rose is reportedly struggling to buy out her ex-husband Dylan McDermott during their divorce - so the couple has agreed to sell the marital home.

The Practice actor filed for divorce from his wife of 11 years earlier this year, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split.

Their marital home is listed as "community property" in divorce papers - and Rose allegedly cannot afford to pay to keep their former residence.

A source tells New York gossip column PageSix.com, "Rose is being forced to sell the gorgeous Brentwood home she and ex-husband Dylan McDermott bought nine years ago. Shiva's looking for a smaller house nearby."

Rose says in a statement, "Dylan and I are getting a divorce, and we have mutually agreed to sell the house we shared as a married couple."

McDermott and Rose have two daughters: 12-year-old Collette Blu and three-year-old Charlotte Rose. The actor is reportedly seeking joint custody.

Moore's Life Story Was Stolen At Airport
2 October 2008 8:59 AM, PDT

James Bond star Sir Roger Moore gave up on his first attempt to write his life story - when the manuscript was stolen at an airport.

The 007 veteran, who lives in Switzerland, began to pen his autobiography several years ago but scrapped the project when he was targeted by thieves in Geneva.

And it was only after he turned 80 last year that he decided to have another go at writing his memoirs - when his wife Kristina and daughter Deborah convinced him it was a good idea.

Moore, who suffered several health problems as a child, tells WENN, "I was pushed by my wife, my daughter - and Michael Caine a few years ago had done his (autobiography).

"I did try years ago and then lost the manuscript - well, it was stolen. It was on a disc in my bag, stolen at the airport at Geneva. I'd got about 14,000, 15,000 words. It quite put me off.

"I wasn't doing it as a straight autobiography because I never wanted to do that. It was going to be about my medical history. I was going to talk about my childhood, with various ops (operations) and what have you - and I was going to call it Out of the Bedpan, Into the Fire. But it was never to be.

"Then my 80th came along and I was talking to Kristina and Deborah and said 'Ok, I'll try.'"

Moore's life story - My Word Is My Bond - is released in the U.K. this week.

Union Bosses Urged To Ballot Members Over Strike
2 October 2008 8:58 AM, PDT

Latest: The deadlock between the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) and movie studios could finally be broken after the bosses of the actors' union were urged to ballot its members over strike action.

Members of the 120,000-strong SAG rejected a three-year deal offered by the major Hollywood studios and TV networks earlier this year.

And those appointed to negotiate on behalf of SAG's cardholders are calling on the governing board to hold a vote.

If 75 per cent of balloted members agree to industrial action then the strike will go ahead.

Negotiators told governors, "A strike authorisation vote of the membership is necessary to overcome the employers' intransigence."

The call for the vote received a response from the body that represents the studios, Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP), which had previously rejected an offer to settle with the union.

In a statement, an AMPTP spokesman said, "Is this really the time for anyone associated with the entertainment business to be talking about going on strike? Not only is the business suffering from recent economic conditions, but if ever there was a time when Americans wanted the diversions of movies and television, it is now."

SAG is pushing for more money for actors when their work is released on DVD, plus a greater say in the endorsement of products on-air.

Anderson Urges Blanchett To Snub Armani
2 October 2008 8:58 AM, PDT

Pamela Anderson has written a stern letter to Aussie actress Cate Blanchett, urging the Oscar-winner to stop wearing Armani clothes.

The model/actress has teamed up with animal rights activists at People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) - to encourage A-list stars to shun fashion designer Giorgio Armani over his refusal to cut fur from his lines, and now she's taking aim at one of the fashion guru's closest friends.

She wants Blanchett to wear other designers' creations to red carpet events until Armani agrees to stop using fur.

In her letter to the Elizabeth star, Anderson writes, "Cate, as you are such a huge part of Armani's publicity machine, would you please urge him to keep his promise and leave fur out of his future collections?"

A spokesman for the designer has confirmed Armani plans to cease using all but rabbit fur in future creations, adding, "As a luxury fashion house, which has always been attentive to this issue, we feel we are being unfairly targeted in comparison to our competitors."

Aniston Hits Back At Love Life Publicity Allegations
2 October 2008 8:58 AM, PDT

Jennifer Aniston has blasted critics who accuse the actress of using her love life for publicity, branding the insult "below the belt".

The former Friends star has enjoyed a series of high profile relationships over the years, including a five-year marriage to Brad Pitt, and romances with Vince Vaughn and singer John Mayer.

But she insists she's never used the romances to further her own career.

She says, "It's been incorrectly alleged that I'd abuse a romantic attachment as a publicity stunt. That's below the belt.

"To love and be loved is the most beautiful thing that can happen to a person, and one's own life is more important than all the glamour and fame in the world."

Reality TV Dance Star Indicted On Tax Charges
2 October 2008 6:59 AM, PDT

Brazilian race car driver and Dancing With The Stars champion Helio Castroneves has been indicted, accused of failing to pay tax on his $5 million (GBP2.7 million) income.

The IndyCar star, his sister Katiucia and lawyer Alan Miller are all implicated in the charges of conspiracy to defraud the U.S. and tax evasion.

According to papers, obtained by TMZ.com, the trio stands accused of using "an offshore Panamanian shell corporation, Seven Promotions, to conceal and disguise the true and correct amount of Helio Castroneves' income from the Internal Revenue Service."

The authorities claim Castroneves was paid $2 million (GBP1.08 million) by a Brazilian trading company but made it appear that he only received $200,000 (GBP108,000), among other charges.

If found guilty the trio faces 10 years in federal prison.

Moore Wrote Life Story At Dawn
2 October 2008 6:59 AM, PDT

James Bond star Sir Roger Moore had to pen his life story in the early hours of the morning - because anecdotes he had trouble recalling would come to him in his sleep.

The forgetful movie star had to think back more than 30 years to his 007 debut in Live and Let Die in 1973 when she started writing his memoirs, My Word Is My Bond - and he often struggled to remember magical moments.

He admits he often woke in the middle of the night and remembered an amusing anecdote from his past - but he'd forget it by the morning.

He reveals it was such a "slog" to recall all the details that he fell into a routine of getting up early every day and working on his manuscript at dawn.

Sir Roger tells WENN, "Sometimes it was easy, sometimes it wasn't. The thing that really drove me mad was I would wake up at three in the morning with an idea and (think) 'Ah, I remember that, yes, my God, I did that' and then go back to sleep happy and content that I'd thought of something new. I'd wake up (later) and I'd forgotten completely what it was.

"I found that writing between five and eight in the morning was the best time in the world because the phone does not ring and you have no distractions, apart from dustbin vans reversing and things like that."

Moore's autobiography is released in the U.K. this week (beg29Sep08).

She has been given the all-clear after undergoing the operation, and has even returned to work on her hit U.S. sitcom Samantha Who?

And Schaech, who divorced the actress in 2005, insists he is proud of his ex.

He tells Usmagazine.com, "She is doing well. How wonderful it is that, because of what happened to her, people are becoming more aware.

"She is stepping out. She was on Oprah. She is making an effort to make everyone aware of everything that she learned from this - how to prevent and save lives.

"She is not a superhero - nobody is - but she is beating this."

The actress laughed as she remembered her dad Emilio - who died from complications with pneumonia in April - and his high-spirited performance in the 1998 movie.

She told the audience at the Arclight Cinema, "My daddy's in this movie for two seconds. My father just passed away recently. He's the dude when Ben Stiller is leaving the jail and all the guys run afterwards. My dad has the long black-silver hair... who's hamming it up in the front.

"That's my dad, so would you all just say hi to him, because it's one of the few moments that we have of him immortalised on film."

Although known more as a film star, Newman graced the stage in five Broadway productions, starting in 1953 with William Inge's Picnic, where he met his future wife Joanne Woodward.

Newman last appeared on stage in New York in 2003's revival of Thornton Wilder's Our Town, which earned him his first Tony Award nomination.

Charlotte S. Martin, Executive Director of the Broadway League, says, "After beginning his illustrious career on stage, his love for theatre continued throughout his life. His presence everywhere will be missed."

Newman lost his battle with cancer last Friday, at the age of 83.

The pair will star in a new adaptation of William Shakespeare's The Tempest, with Mirren taking on the role of Prospero and Brand playing jester Trinculo.

And the comic admits it will be a challenge to work with The Queen star, because he thinks she is so attractive.

He say, "She is so hot. There's something about her that drives me wild. She's so sexy and enchanting. Just look at her form. They're going to have to hold me back when we start work. I'll be all over her, I don't know how I'm going to get any work done. I'm going to try and get off with her."

Hart Regrets Drug-free Birth
2 October 2008 5:42 AM, PDT

The former Sabrina the Teenage Witch star delivered son Braydon in March, her second son with husband Mark Wilkerson.

And Hart, who endured "medical intervention" during the birth of three-year-old Mason, was adamant that her next labour go as smoothly as possible.

She tells Us Weekly magazine, "I told my mom and my husband, don't let me have (the drugs).

"I kinda regret that one. But the thing is, the healing was so much faster. I didn't have to get the drugs out of my system and was moving around a lot more.

"I laboured at home for nine hours and then went to the hospital for an hour and a half - two pushes and he was out."

Craig: 'Bond Films Will Lead To Surgery'
2 October 2008 5:42 AM, PDT

James Bond star Daniel Craig is convinced the new 007 films are so dangerous, he will need plastic surgery within five years.

The British actor sustained numerous injuries while filming the forthcoming Quantum of Solace - he was rushed to hospital in June after hurting himself on-set in South America, and was recently seen nursing a bruised eye and fractured arm.

Craig admits the dangerous stunts are all part of playing the superspy - but fears it won't be long before he will need to have plastic surgery to rectify his injuries.

He says, "It's what happens when you do something like this. I got tagged in a fight sequence and needed eight stitches. Plastic surgery? Give it five years."

Gambon's Royal Joke On Depp
2 October 2008 5:42 AM, PDT

Sir Michael Gambon once tricked Johnny Depp into thinking he was friends with British monarch Queen Elizabeth II - telling the actor he regularly went to her home for a cup of tea.

The pair was working together on 1999 movie Sleepy Hollow in the grounds of a stately home near Windsor, England, when the Queen and Harry Herbert, the 17th Earl of Pembroke - who is also a film director - rode past on horses.

And Depp assumed that because Gambon knew the Earl, he must know the Royal as well.

Gambon recalls, "Harry shouts, 'Hello Mike' and I replied 'Hello Harry, how are you, mate?' and 'Hello ma'am' and the Queen nods to me.

"Afterwards Depp asked: 'Was that the Queen?' (I replied) 'Of course it was the Queen.' Mouth open, Depp replied: 'You know the Queen?'

"'Yeah, she's one of my best friends,' I ribbed him, 'I'm always nipping into her house for a cup of tea.'"

Bond Fan Buys Wrecked Movie Car
2 October 2008 5:42 AM, PDT

A James Bond fan has paid thousands of dollars for the sports car which was wrecked during the filming of new movie Quantum Of Solace, according to Daniel Craig.

The luxury Aston Martin DBS was smashed to pieces in April when a stuntman accidentally drove the vehicle into Lake Garda in Italy.

The car - one of six used on the movie set - was subsequently dredged from the water, but deemed unfixable.

But Craig admits that film bosses made their money back by selling the vehicle to a 007 fan - for more than its original worth.

As new, the car is valued at $129,500 (GBP70,000), but Craig says the wrecked Aston Martin was sold for approximately $370,000 (GBP200,000).

He says, "I think somebody paid about GBP200,000 for this written-off Aston Martin. It was a Bond aficionado."

90210 Dropped By Australian Network
2 October 2008 5:42 AM, PDT

Beverly Hills, 90210 spin-off 90210 has been axed from Australian TV screens due to poor ratings.

The drama was dropped from Channel 10 after just four episodes because there wasn't enough interest in the show.

The debut program pulled in 837,000 viewers last month, while the last episode shown on Monday achieved viewing figures of just 616,000.

A spokesperson for the channel says, "90210 is an excellent show that clearly resonated with a younger audience, but it didn't have the kind of numbers needed to stay in this intensely competitive environment."

The station intends to broadcast the remaining episodes during the non-ratings period over summer.

Bachchan, who informed police in Mumbai, alleges the perpetrator had claimed to be in contact with the star's family.

Police have now arrested 25-year-old Devi Singh Rajpurohit in connection with the allegation.

Bachchan says, "I must compliment the police force of Maharashtra (state) for having worked so rapidly in getting to the problem and taking suitable action."

Photographers Deny Stealing Nude Monroe Shots
2 October 2008 5:42 AM, PDT

Latest: Two photographers have denied stealing nude snaps of Hollywood legend Marilyn Monroe, insisting they found them in a roadside bin.

Photographers Michael Weiss and Donald Penny have been accused of failing to return the images which were captured by Bert Stern just six weeks before Monroe died from a drug overdose in 1962.

Stern claims the photographs, which show the tragic star posing naked behind a transparent white gauze, were never returned by editors of the now-defunct magazine Eros, when he loaned them more than 40 years ago. He is suing the pair for punitive damages and legal fees.

But Weiss and Penny have denied stealing the images, insisting they came across them by accident.

Jamie Brickell, an attorney for Weiss and Penny, says, "These photos were discarded more than 30 years ago and found in a pile of curbside garbage in the mid-1970s. Stern's claim that anything has been 'taken or stolen' from him is completely false."

The star was admitted to a hospital in Melbourne, Australia on Tuesday night after suffering a brain haemorrhage.

Guest was living in the country while performing in Wizard of Oz musical Wicked.

Producer John Frost says Guest's sudden death is a devastating blow to his family, friends and colleagues.

He says, "Rob never smoked, he would have a drink like most of us, he was reasonably fit, there was no sign at all."

The theatre actor was the world's longest serving star of Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical, Phantom of the Opera, clocking up more than 2,000 performances as the legendary character.

His former Phantom co-star Marina Prior says Guest's death is a huge loss for Australian theatre.

"He was a theatrical animal and he was like a kid, he just loved what he did and it was contagious."

She tells Details magazine, "I couldn't breathe, I started having an anxiety attack, I couldn't stay out of their reach.

"They were slamming into the cage; they looked so frickin' mean! My leg slipped a little through the bars, and a shark swam up against me and rubbed off a layer of my skin."

Spacey: 'I'll Never Work With Brand'
2 October 2008 12:18 AM, PDT

Oscar-winning actor Kevin Spacey has provided an unexpected blow to Russell Brand's film career - insisting he would never dream of working with the comedian.

Brand has carved himself a Hollywood movie career after years on the comedy circuit in his native Britain, making a name for himself with niche roles in Forgetting Sarah Marshall and St Trinians.

But American Beauty star Spacey is clearly not a fan of Brand's big screen endeavours, and would "never " allow the star to perform in one of his productions at London's Old Vic theatre.

He says, ""I would never ask Russell Brand because he's just a f**king personality. That's not acting. He's not an actor."

Favreau Nervous About Iron Man Car Scenes
2 October 2008 12:18 AM, PDT

Actor/moviemaker Jon Favreau had a few nervous moments while he was filming Robert Downey Jr. in Iron Man - because the Chaplin star was actually ripping his classic car apart in garage scenes.

In order to show film fans that Downey Jr's Tony Stark character was capable of building the Iron Man suit, the director decided to show off his machinery and mechanic skills at the beginning of the movie.

So the Swingers star brought his classic '32 Ford Lowboy Flathead Roadster to the set - and let his star tinker with it.

Favreau reveals, "They painted it for the movie... and they said, 'Do you mind if we re-do the upholstery?' and I said, 'No, go ahead, whatever's good for the movie.'

"I wanted to show Robert working on an old car... and then Robert, being the method actor that he is..., was like, 'I should be ripping the head off the engine block.'

"Sure enough, he busted out the wrenches and just ripped the engine apart and I was just cringing in the corner."

Favreau recalls his crew looking at him as if Downey Jr. was having "a go at my wife".

Petersen Hints About CSI Movie
2 October 2008 12:18 AM, PDT

Departing CSI: Crime Scene Investigation star William Petersen has hinted he'll return for a big screen version of the hit TV drama.

The actor, who will give up his role as forensics expert Gil Grissom on the show during the forthcoming season, admits there have been talks about turning the series into a blockbuster movie for years - and it still might come off.

Petersen, who will stay on as a producer of the show after his departure this autumn, says, "I'd love to see us make a CSI film... That's the reason Grissom isn't going to die of a brain tumour.

"It would be good if we did it (film) right. The whole world is interested in the show... (but) you have to make sure it's not just an extended episode."

Stars Team Up With Google To Encourage U.S. Voters
2 October 2008 12:18 AM, PDT

Leonardo DiCaprio, Forest Whitaker and Dustin Hoffman have joined forces with Internet giant Google in a bid to urge U.S. citizens to vote in the upcoming American elections next month.

The actors have shot a pro-vote video, which has been uploaded onto video network site YouTube, to make Americans aware of the dangers of not using their vote.

In the video, entitled 5 Friends, DiCaprio tells viewers, "If you're not going to vote I don't even know what to say to you anymore. You know you have to vote."

The footage, which was filmed at the Titanic star's Los Angeles home, also features U.S. funnywoman Sarah Silverman, who tried to lighten the mood of the message, telling citizens to forward the video to their pals, and urging them to spread the "must-vote" message until it's "rampant like herpes but for a positive".

Bernhard Axed From Fundraiser After Palin 'Gang Rape' Joke
2 October 2008 12:18 AM, PDT

Controversial comedienne Sandra Bernhard has been dropped as a headliner for a women's shelter fundraiser after making a series of shocking comments about U.S. vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin.

The star, most famous for her former friendship with Madonna, stunned fans at her one-woman show in Washington last month when she said that Palin would be gang raped if she ever set foot in New York.

Berhard told the crowd that U.S. presidential contender John McCain's running mate could expect to be "gang-raped by my big black brothers" during the on-stage rant, in which she also slammed Palin's extreme pro-life views.

Now, bosses at the Rosie's Place women's refuge in Boston, Massachusetts have decided to cut Bernhard from their annual benefit, which the star was supposed to headline later this month.

A spokesperson for the centre, which mainly houses victims of domestic abuse, says, "In light of our mission, we don't think violence against women is a laughing matter.

"Right now, our main focus is our event and making sure the event is a success. And for us, that means not including Sandra Bernhard at this time."

But Bernhard is adamant her quips were taken out of context, stating her comments were part of segment in her show which focused on "racism, freedom, women's rights, and the extreme views of Sarah Palin - a woman who doesn't believe that other women should have the right to choose."

She adds, "I certainly wish Palin no harm - I'd just like her to explain to me how she can hold such outrageous views ... and then go back to Alaska."

Golden Speaks Out About Airport Brawl
2 October 2008 12:18 AM, PDT

Reality TV star Bianca Golden has spoken out about her alleged Caribbean airport brawl with Hairspray star Nikki Blonsky - describing how the actress and her father both launched a vicious attack against her mother.

Golden, Blonsky and her father Carl Blonsky were all detained in the Turks and Caicos Islands in July after a fight broke out in the holiday destination's airport lounge.

The altercation between Blonsky and Golden is alleged to have started in the departure lounge at the Providenciales International Airport after the actress attempted to save seats for her family, and Golden had nowhere to sit.

And now, former America's Next Top Model contestant Golden has told her one-time mentor Tyra Banks how Carl Blonsky "punched" her mum before his daughter joined in the attack.

The model told Banks on her U.S. chat show earlier this week (beg29Sep08), "He hit my mom with such force she stumbled back and when she stumbled back the whole family got up and attacked my mom. He knocked her out."

She then explained how Blonsky "takes her foot and kicks my mom in her vagina, and that's when my mom fell out completely".

Golden also claims her mother had to be airlifted to a nearby hospital, where she was allegedly treated for internal bleeding, a broken nose and a fractured skull.

The teenage actress was charged with actual bodily harm and subsequently released on bail along with Golden, while Carl Blonsky was charged with a felony and jailed. He was released on bail a week later and returned to the U.S.

A representative for Blonsky refused to comment on the claims, telling People.com, "Since this is a pending legal issue, we've been advise by her lawyer not to comment."

He says, "We did it very spontaneously. We only had five days to plan it. 150 people came to my house. We invited 40 families and they all brought their kids and all wrote a cheque. Chynna did a set from her new album and we raised 58 grand for Obama."

The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star was handed the sentence - along with a short jail term - when she was convicted of driving under the influence (DUI) in July.

A Los Angeles court was told on Wednesday, Kardashian failed to complete the course because scheduled dates clashed with holidays when the centre was closed. She has now been given until 17 November to attend the missed lessons, and ordered to spend a day working in a La morgue.

Kardashian, 24, has already spent 173 hours in a California jail, stemming from her 2007 arrest.

Injured Labeouf Impresses Troops With His Courage
1 October 2008 6:35 PM, PDT

Latest: Shia Labeouf is such a trooper on the set of the Transformers sequel , he refused to seek hospital help for a severe eyelid injury during a bomb blast stunt that went awry on Wednesday.

The actor was shooting scenes at Holloman Air Force Base in New Mexico when he was injured - and he was more than happy to let base medics attend to his wounds.

One troop on the set tells WENN, "He was treated at the clinic at the airforce base by Colonel Torres and then a local ophthalmologist came by to check on his eye. He was in the clinic for about four hours and then he returned to the set once the swelling had gone down.

"We were all pretty impressed. Shia's making a lot of friends on the set of this film - he's a real guy who smokes like a fiend. To get up from a movie explosion, which leaves you injured, and get back in there is cool.

"He's got broken fingers from his car crash this summer and now his eyelid has been slashed open. I guess he's lucky he still has his sight.

Meanwhile, soldiers and airforce officials who are helping director Michael Bay make the second Transformers film while on leave are learning it pays to get on camera.

The WENN source says, "There are about 200 real extras and some of them have landed scenes in the film. One supervisor has landed the part of a Jordanian officer who is involved in a crash in the film. It's great - and everyone is being paid $8-an-hour to be here. There's servicemen from Texas and New Mexico and even a few Green Berets here."

He was arrested and booked on suspicion of domestic violence.

McCarthy Upset About McCain Snub
1 October 2008 6:35 PM, PDT

Actress/model Jenny McCarthy was left frustrated when she attempted to discuss autism issues with U.S. presidential candidate Senator John McCain - because his campaign manager decided the hot-button topic was too controversial.

McCarthy, who is among those leading the charge to legislate vaccines she claims cause autism in children, was thrilled when Republican McCain stated that he believed there was a connection between the thimerosal vaccine and autism.

She arranged for a meeting with the Senator and flew to speak to him about her own experiences - her son Evan has battled autism since he was born.

The actress hoped the meeting would prompt McCain to make autism and the battle against it a leading issue in his election campaign.

But, at the last minute, he backed out of the May meeting - after learning there's no hard medical evidence linking vaccines and autism.

McCarthy says, "I literally flew to go see McCain, his team agreed to it (meeting), I was prepped and then all of a sudden his campaign manager said, 'We're ahead in the polls and this is a very, very touchy subject. Let's not give this interview right now.'"

McCarthy is now desperately hoping Barack Obama, McCain's opponent in the race for the White House, agrees to champion her cause and address the autism versus vaccines issue.

She says, "We are trying (to contact him)... We have sent numerous (requests). It's a very scary thing for a politician."
