Director Biographies

Lucien Castaing-Taylor

Lucien Castaing-Taylor was born in Liverpool, England. He is a professor of visual arts and anthropology at Harvard. He co-directed the feature documentary Sweetgrass (09) with Ilisa Barbash. His audio-video installations include Hell Roaring Creek (10), The High Trail (10), Coom Biddy (12) and Bedding Down (12). Leviathan (12) is his latest film.

Véréna Paravel

Véréna Paravel is an anthropologist and filmmaker born in Neuchâtel, Switzerland. She has made the short videos 7 Queens (08) and Interface Series (09–10), the latter shot entirely through Skype. Her feature debut, Foreign Parts (10), a collaboration with J.P Sniadecki, won Best First Feature and a Special Jury Prize at the Locarno Film Festival. Leviathan (12) is her latest film.
