Helms Defends Civil War Re-enactors
The Hangover star Ed Helms has defended American Civil War re-enactors from critics who accuse them of prolonging the agony of one of U.S. history's darkest hours.
The Georgia-born actor and funnyman is a history fan and his father was a Civil War buff - and he insists it's important people relive the past on battlefields dotted across America.
Helms says, "Re-enactors are not trying to relive the war... They're history buffs."
But he accepts some re-enactors take it too far: "There is a pre-occupation with the past as being this nobler time, and I think that is where it does get into sort of a grey, dare I say comedic area - because there was no time that people were all good or more noble; we were always a**holes." »
Owen's Love Affair With Madrid Began On Film Set
Movie star Clive Owen fell in love with Madrid's food and wine culture while he was shooting his new movie Intruders in the Spanish capital.
The British actor admits he now returns to the city whenever he can, just to satisfy his new-found appreciation of the best things in life.
Owen tells BlogTalkRadio.com, "The food was fantastic. That was the biggest culture shock. I've been back to Madrid maybe eight times since finishing this film, and I have to be honest; it's primarily to eat!
"The food in that town is so good and the whole crew, they really knew how to live... All they wanted to talk about was food and wine all day - 'Where did you eat last night? What did you eat? What wine did you have with it?' They were all complete foodies, and I'm a bit of a foodie, so I loved working with a Spanish crew.
"I learned an awful lot about Spanish wine, as everybody seemed to know everything about wine; I was getting recommendations every day. I found it a very alive set, very energised and a really good time. I met some very good friends there during the making of the film that I've kept in touch with.
"My family came and hung out as well, so they got to know it well. I really did generally fall in love with the place. It's such a great way of life there. They've got the important things right like family, food, and having a good time." »
Kanaly's Doubts Over Dallas Return
Actor Steve Kanaly almost turned down the chance to return to legendary TV show Dallas for its relaunch later this year - as his character is barely involved in the plot.
Kanaly was invited by producers to reprise his role as former Southfork Ranch foreman Ray Krebbs in the sex-and-scandal drama, but was left disappointed by his lack of lines in the script.
He finally relented after a meeting with the show's bosses - and he's been promised a bigger role if future episodes are commissioned.
Kanaly tells DallasFanzine.com, "My part isn't too big in this early episode (but) I've been told that there are other things for the character down the road... I honestly was thinking about passing on this 'cause there wasn't much for me to do, and then I talked to the casting (director) and the director and they were all very enthusiastic about having me come in, and I'm very pleased that I decided to do it now." »

Kardashian Brands Flour Attacker 'Bully'
Kim Kardashian has hit out at the woman who attacked her with flour during a red carpet appearance on Thursday, insisting the incident was a form of bullying.
The reality TV star was promoting her new fragrance, True Reflection, at a charity event for women's organisation Dress For Success at the London Hotel in West Hollywood when an unidentified animal rights campaigner threw white powder at her as she posed for photos and chatted to reporters.
The socialite, who was targeted over her love of fur, admits she was stunned by the incident but she was determined to brush herself off and return to the event out of respect for the party's organisers and their guests.
She tells TMZ.com, "What was sad about the event was we were supporting Dress For Success... I didn't want their organisation to be overshadowed by this... It's just sad when someone, you know, whatever your beliefs are, if you're acting in a violent way and doing something that is illegal, that's not Ok and that's bullying and I don't promote that."
The attacker was detained by police but Kardashian declined to press charges - because she's got too many other legal issues to resolve.
She quips, "Don't I have one too many lawsuits going on right now? Do you think I really need to add another one? I mean I thought about it, but to be honest, it would have taken (too long). I would have had to go down there (to the police station), wasted about an hour and a half of the event... and I didn't wanna hold up the event, so it was really me respecting other people's time, even though I don't think that someone like that should get away with those types of actions."
Kardashian has now vowed to employ extra security guards to protect her from any similar incidents in future, but she insists the animal rights activist's messy protest won't stop her from wearing fur: "What I choose to do in my personal life, I think is a personal choice and that's that... At the end of the day, if you're trying to promote non-violence towards animals, why are you trying to be violent towards humans?" »

The Hunger Games Debuts To Record-breaking Midnight Gross
The Hunger Games has broken U.S. box office records, raking in a stunning $19.7 million (£12.3 million) overnight (22-23Mar12) to make it the highest-grossing midnight opener ever for a non-sequel.
The movie adaptation of author Suzanne Collins' action books, starring Jennifer Lawrence as heroine Katniss Everdeen, had already made $15 million (£9.4 million) in advance ticket sales, and it drew huge crowds as fans lined up outside theatres across the country to get a first-look at the film upon its release in the early hours of Friday.
The big opening also rockets The Hunger Games into seventh place in the list of top midnight grosses, beating Batman outing The Dark Knight and Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith, which both earned $17 million (£10.6 million) in midnight releases in 2008 and 2005, respectfully.
But The Hunger Games has a long way to go before reaching the gold status of recent Twilight sequels - the last three movies have grossed over $26 million (£16.25 million) in midnight openings, while the final Harry Potter sequel, The Deathly Hallows: Part 2, is way out front with $43.5 million (£27.19 million).

He headed inside for the screening and was later snapped sneaking his godson Damian - Hurley's nine-year-old boy - out of the cinema.

Stallone Ditches Plans For Tame Expendables Sequel
Sylvester Stallone has abandoned plans to make his sequel to The Expendables more family-friendly by toning down the violence and bad language.
It emerged in January that the Rocky star was eyeing a PG-13 rating for the action movie amid rumours cast member Chuck Norris had requested no cursing in the script.
Fans of the first film feared the development meant the hard-hitting movie would be toned down for a younger audience - but Stallone, who writes and stars in The Expendables 2, has now revealed the sequel will have a restricted 'R' rating after all.
He tells the StalloneZone website, "After taking in all the odd rumours and hearsay, Expendables 2 is an R." »

Sutherland's Busy Schedule Delays 24 Movie
Actor Kiefer Sutherland's commitment to new U.S. series Touch has forced movies bosses to push back the film adaptation of 24.
The hit action drama came to an end in 2010 after eight seasons on air, but producers subsequently confirmed plans to turn it into a film.
The project has been plagued by scripting issues, and now the executive producer behind the TV show, Howard Gordon, reveals Sutherland's latest project has caused another delay for the Jack Bauer movie.
He tells Access Hollywood, "We were racing to get this thing done, and Kiefer was out promoting Touch and we got a script that we finally all really liked and we're talking to directors and it was all coming together, but it was kind of a run-n-gun...
"With Touch - I mean to just sort of jam it in, we all felt - at the last minute... it just didn't feel right to rush. We all feel so, so, strong about this - about this project - that we wanted to do it right.
"I think we are very committed to keeping it alive and to doing it, hopefully next cycle, when Kiefer next gets a break. Next year, yeah. Nobody wants it more than me - except maybe Kiefer." »

DeGeneres Pranks Roberts On TV Show
Julia Roberts was given a scare by Ellen DeGeneres when the U.S. TV host pulled a prank on her backstage at a recent show taping.
The actress taped a segment for DeGeneres' programme to promote new Snow White movie Mirror Mirror, and the presenter played her first joke before Roberts had even sat down for the chat.
She crouched outside the redhead's dressing room and jumped up at her as Roberts opened the door, prompting her to scream, "Oh my God! Am I the perfect person to scare or what?"
Speaking about the incident on the show, set to air in the U.S. on Friday, the actress explains, "It doesn't even come across how scared I was - it did not come across there and I changed (outfits) because I peed in my pants! I screamed like I was being mugged on a subway."
Roberts also reveals she likes to play the same prank on her three children in their home: "I realised I was getting too much joy from it, so I've had to tone it down. Just if I hear them coming and they don't know where I am in the house and I crouch down in their private space and they come in and I jump out. Little people can just catch air, they just vault (when they jump) - its so wrong!"
Later on in the interview, Roberts was given a taste of her own medicine when a man dressed as Snow White sneaked up on her - resulting in the actress screaming loudly.
Her cries turned into laughter as she declared, "Thank God, I'm a jogger - I would have a heart attack. Who was it? That's a different Snow White!" »

In a post on her Twitter.com page, she wrote, "Standing w/ (with) gary ross (director) at the midnight screening of hungergames!!!!! So excited!"
Colfer came out of a cinema gushing about the movie, telling his fans, "Midnight showing of the Hunger Games! Hot damn. I'm not a promoter of violence, but I'm so glad I started sai-swords at a young age."
And his Glee co-star Kevin McHale also attended a late screening event, marking the second time he's seen the film: "Hope everyone had a happy hunger games! Just got back from seeing it... again! Even better this time!"

Hamm Was Asked To Father Friend's Baby
Actor Jon Hamm was once asked to father a child by a friend who was desperate to have a baby.
The Mad Men star admits he turned down the request because he was unemployed and broke at the time, even though his pal told him he wouldn't have to be a part of the youngster's upbringing.
Hamm tells Fox411, "I have actually been asked to be a father by a friend who wanted to have a kid. It was kind of weird and out-of-nowhere and I said no. Mainly because I was totally unemployed, and I would feel so responsible, even though they said, 'Don't worry, no strings attached.'"
Hamm has been in a relationship with his partner Jennifer Westfeldt for 15 years and insists he has no plans to start a family of his own. »
Kardashian Brushes Off Flour-throwing Drama
Kim Kardashian has brushed off her red carpet flour drama on Thursday night, calling it the "craziest" moment of her life.
The reality TV star was the guest of honour at a party for her new fragrance, True Reflection, at the London Hotel in West Hollywood, but she was left stunned when a woman threw white powder at her as she posed for pictures.
Kardashian was escorted to a private room to dust herself down and later returned to the party, and she's now laughed off the incident.
She tells E! Online, "That probably is the craziest, (most) unexpected, weird thing that ever happened to me. Like I said to my make-up artist, I wanted more powder and that's a whole lot of translucent powder right there."
Her sibling Khloe took to her Twitter.com page after hearing of the drama and declared, "I wish I was with my sister tonight. I bet you that woman wouldn't have dared tried a thing..."
A woman was detained by police officers over the incident but Kardashian told officers she did not want to press charges and the suspect was released, according to the Associated Press. »
Brummer 'Acted In Self-defence' During Nightclub Scuffle
Australian actor Dieter Brummer was acting in "self-defence" when he lashed out at two security guards in Melbourne last year, according to his lawyer.
The former Home and Away heart-throb allegedly attempted to bite one man, and punched and kicked another in the scuffle at the city's Crown Casino after the actor was turned away from a Logie Awards afterparty in May.
Brummer appeared in court in Melbourne on Friday to face charges of unlawful assault and attempting to commit an indictable offence for allegedly trying to bite the security guard.
However the actor's lawyer, Andrew Dickenson, argued the incident was "largely a case of self-defence" as Brummer was being restrained by up to five guards and had his hands tied.
Dickenson asked for the case to be reviewed at a diversion hearing, which allows first-time offenders to escape a conviction by making amends for their actions.
The magistrate granted the request and the diversion hearing will be held on 1 May. »
Ramsay Launches Defamation Lawsuit
Gordon Ramsay has filed a $2.4 million (£1.5 million) lawsuit against a former associate who alleges the celebrity chef was "too busy" to promote their restaurant.
The Hell's Kitchen star is suing Danny Lavy for defamation and potential revenue losses following a disagreement about their joint eaterie Laurier Gordon Ramsay in Montreal, Canada.
Lavy cancelled the contract last month and dropped Ramsay's name from the project, accusing the fiery chef of being "too busy to come to the restaurant" and failing to promote their business on TV chat shows.
Ramsay has branded the comments "false and defamatory" in the lawsuit, arguing he believed his role was to provide his name and several recipe ideas, and that he was under no obligation to visit the restaurant.
The lawsuit states, "Negative and critical public comments regarding the plaintiff could have the effect of decreasing the commercial value of his name and any commercial ventures associated with it."
Ramsay is no stranger to lawsuits - earlier this month he settled a legal dispute with a New Zealand promotion company by agreeing to make an $83,000 (£52,000) donation to charity. »
Blethyn's Golden Globes Nightmare
Actress Brenda Blethyn was left scrabbling around on a bathroom floor at the 1996 Golden Globes after she lost her loaned diamond brooch.
The British star was a surprise nominee for her role in Mike Leigh's film Secret & Lies, and bosses at Armani lent her jewellery for the glitzy showbiz event.
However, she dropped the pricey piece during a bathroom break and heard some nasty gossip as she crawled around the floor looking for it.
She tells Reader's Digest, "I'd been nominated for Secrets & Lies and had borrowed a hugely expensive diamond brooch from Armani.
"In the loo (bathroom) it popped off and I was scrabbling around on the floor looking for it when I heard two women at the sinks discussing the nominations for best actress.
"One said, 'Well, whoever gets it it certainly won't be Brenda Blethyn!' I was mortified and waited for them to leave before going back to my seat."
Blethyn got her revenge when she won the prize for Best Actress.
She adds, "So it was doubly wonderful when my category came up and I heard the words: 'And the winner is... Brenda Blethyn.'" »
Owen Given Access To Hemingway's Home For Film Role
Actor Clive Owen has become an Ernest Hemingway expert after scoring private tours of the writer's home in Cuba and his hang-outs in France while researching new movie Hemingway & Gellhorn.
The Children of Men star was given access to places many Hemingway fans can only dream of visiting, including the inside of the home that has become a museum to the literary icon.
Owen tells BlogTalkRadio.com, "It was an amazing experience. Basically when he died his wife took all the expensive paintings out and donated everything else to the Cuban government. They locked the place down and they let tourists in, but only into the grounds - so you can look through the window.
"They knew I was coming and I got set up to see everything and it was all there; his book collection, his record collection, his clothes were in the closet, his typewriters. There was nowhere else in the world where you would have kept something like that. It was like you walked into somebody's home. It was really incredible.
"They were incredibly lovely there and so knowledgeable about everything Hemingway. He really has left his mark all over Havana. The people of that house were so helpful.
"I also did Hemingway's Paris and some expert took me around everywhere that he lived and drank. It was a great few months immersing myself in all things Hemingway. I'm a big fan of his short stories. I think he really was a special writer." »

Late last year, following her split from husband Bruce Boxleitner, the Little House on the Prairie star announced she would be jetting off to France for the New Year celebrations to boost her morale.
She said, "For New Year's I am doing something I've never done in my whole life, I'm going by myself, to Paris, for a week and I've rented an apartment and I don't have an agenda. I'm going to go to museums and eat a lot of Brie cheese and just try to enjoy being on my own."

Reality TV star Kim Kardashian was pelted with flour at a red carpet event in Los Angeles on Thursday night.
The brunette beauty attended a promotional party for her new fragrance, True Reflection, at the London Hotel in West Hollywood and was posing for pictures when a woman threw white powder at her.
The flour covered her hair and back, and Kardashian was escorted to a private room to clean up.
The Los Angeles Fire Department was called to examine the powder, but they quickly determined it was just ordinary cooking flour, according to TMZ.com.
The woman was detained by police officers over the incident, although as WENN went to press, it was not known if she was charged with an offence.
Kardashian returned to the event after changing.
After hearing of the incident on Twitter.com, Kardashian's sister Kourtney wrote, "Classy to flour bomb my sister at her charity event helping women. I wonder if they would have dared thrown the flour at my hormonal and pregnant self!" »

Roberts And Kids Too Busy Reading To Watch Movies
Julia Roberts has little time for movies when she's at home with her kids - because they'd all rather read books than spend two hours in front of a screen.
The Pretty Woman star values family time with her husband Danny Moder and their kids and hates the idea of just sitting and watching a film they might not all enjoy.
She tells WENN, "We're more book people. They (kids) have a lot of fairytale books and some of the old ones have such great illustrations and with proper parental editing when reading before bed, they're quite lovely.
"Those nice, cozy, very short hours before bed, we just really spend together as a family, sharing the day and reading books and, before you know it, it is time for bed. There's just not time for that (watching movies). We would prefer something different in that time.
"It's nice that it (reading) opens up other options; stories and poetry and talking, sharing ideas." »
Valderrama: 'Minka Kelly Is An Old Friend'
TV star Wilmer Valderrama has played down rumours he's romancing actress Minka Kelly, insisting they're just good friends.
The former That '70s Show actor has been photographed out with Kelly on several occasions in recent weeks, and the pair was allegedly seen kissing and dancing together during a night out at West Hollywood's Greystone Manor Supperclub last weekend.
A source told UsMagazine.com, "They were kissing and grinding," adding, "I wouldn't say they're boyfriend and girlfriend, but he's started ignoring calls from some of his other girls."
But Valderrama, who split from singer/actress Demi Lovato in January, brushed off the reports during a Los Angeles radio interview with Ryan Seacrest on Thursday.
When asked about the love claims, Valderrama adopted his cartoon voice for his Disney Junior show Handy Manny and said, "Well, Minka Kelly and Wilmer Valderrama have been friends for a long time and that's all there is to it."
The actor, who has voiced the Hispanic handyman character since 2006, has also previously dated Mandy Moore and Lindsay Lohan. Kelly, the star of the failed TV revamp of Charlie's Angels, parted ways with baseball ace Derek Jeter last year. »
Paltrow Hits Back At Cookbook Allegations Once And For All
Gwyneth Paltrow has spoken out again to blast reports her 2011 cookbook was the work of a ghostwriter, insisting she would never lie about her professional life.
A reporter for the New York Times recently questioned the extent of Paltrow's involvement in putting together My Father's Daughter, and instead linked writer Julia Turshen to the collection of family recipes and cooking tips.
The Oscar winner fired back at the claims via Twitter.com last weekend, writing, "Love The New York Times dining section but this week's facts need checking. No ghostwriter on my cookbook, I wrote every word myself."
But the rumours have continued to swirl and Paltrow decided to answer the allegations once and for all on U.S. TV in an interview with cooking show host Rachael Ray on Thursday.
Speaking from her London home via video calling program Skype, she said, "Normally I don't respond to gossip or anything, but you know this is my professional life and I'm writing more cookbooks. And I feel like it's important for the people who have responded so positively and interacted with me about my book, that they know that this is my book and I wrote my book and it's all mine." »
Police Investigation Stalls In Lohan Hit-and-run Case
Los Angeles police are struggling to build a case against Lindsay Lohan over allegations she was involved in a hit-and-run accident last week (ends18Mar12) - because neither the actress or her accuser are co-operating.
The Mean Girls star has denied claims she bumped her Porsche into a man identified as Thaer Kamal as she left The Sayers Club in the early hours of 14 March. Her alleged victim initially told cops he didn't require medical attention, but he subsequently checked into a hospital emergency room for treatment and was reportedly ready to press charges against Lohan.
Officers are interested in questioning the actress about the incident, but their investigation has since stalled as Lohan, who has no obligation to co-operate, has failed to get in touch with police.
Kamal has also stayed away from cops - and in a bizarre twist, TMZ.com reports he is being investigated for multiple instances of insurance fraud. The man, who allegedly goes by numerous monikers, is accused of staging car accidents and filing hoax claims.
If detectives drop the case it will be good news for Lohan - she is nearing the end of her probation period and is due in court next week for her final progress hearing. »
